Pavelec for sure in any league, too much potential.
Craig Anderson
Ondrej Pavelec
Craig Anderson
or
Ondrej Pavelec
Who should I keep?
Who should I move for forward depth?
Who will post the better numbers next year?
___________
Anderson:
- has put up gaudy numbers for a solid stretch with a young team FALL 2009/SPRING 2011
- struggled with consistency and injury
- Dobber ranks him top 26 Goaltender
- very little competition in OTT (short term)
- 30 this year
Pavelec
- has put up gaudy numbers for a solid stretch with a young team FALL 2010
- struggled with consistency and (freak)injury
- Dobber ranks him top 24 Goaltender
- very little competition in WPG
- 24 this year
Neither Winnipeg or Ottawa are going to be top teams this year but i expect each goalie to put up decent numbers if only for getting the lion's share of the starts. My league is W and SO only for goalie scoring.
It seems like Pavelec might have the higher ceiling even though there is debate on just how high it is. I might be able to get more for Pavelec in trade so I am leaning on moving him. But age alone gives Pavelec the edge.
Also worth noting is that I have a high draft pick this year that is guaranteed to be a solid to elite starting goaltender. Anderson or Pavelec would be my 4th Goalie and likely wouldn't be played until next season - barring injury.
thoughts?

"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."

This is a close call for this year depending what you use for goalie stats. But I think Pavelec edges out Anderson over the long haul.
Both should be relatively close in wins next year. high 20's is my call. But I see the Jets improving in all areas a little quicker than Ottawa. Which might slightly pad Pav's stats for the next few years over Anderson's.
Other things to consider:
Save % was almost identical last year
Pavelec has better long term potential, but Anderson has more experience carrying a team
Anderson seemed to settle into Ottawa nicely
Both have injury/health risk
Team wise............
Both teams defences are somewhat porous
Ottawa let in 17 fewer goals
the Jets scored 38 more goals than Ottawa last year. Fairly significant difference
Playing in a hockey market could pad the Jet's stats a bit next year
Given that you don't need this 4th goalie for this season, I think I would hang onto Pavelec. Yes, you might get more for him in trade but I think all you are doing there is trading away his additional value so there would be no net gain anyway - so it makes sense to me to hang onto the asset that is likely to appreciate the most.

Still pretty neck and neck in the polls
6 for keeping Anderson
8 for keeping Pavelec
I think Shoeless is right - Pavelec seems like the asset that is most likely to appreciate the most.
thanks for the help guys
Now time to see exactly what I can squeeze out of the other managers in the league.

Pavelec gets my vote as well, more potential in the long run.
