    Default McBain or Murphy

Who would you rather have in a H2H Yahoo Keeper with these categories?

    G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG

It's a full keeper with a very deep rosters. I should also mention that I can be patient with the player/prospect if need be.

Is Murphy the future in Carolina or am I overlooking the present in McBain?

hmm tough call since you threw in the whole "can wait a bit".

Personally I would want McBain, as he is much further along and has a good upside.

Murphy however is built for offence, the catch of course is his defensive game is poor, and he has a lot more development time ahead of him.

Safer pick, good upside and faster progression: McBain

Swing for the fences and gamble: Murphy

I was just about to post when I noticed this answer. I'm in complete agreement with this assessment.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Another complete agreement but if I had the choice Id swing for the fences here, Murphys offence is too good to give up on. Reminds me of Paul Coffey.

You should really not allow yourself to watch anything hockey related for one month just for making that statement.

McBain is sick man low to mid 50's talent no question.

Murphy's game will not translate at the NHL level as he will not be skating end to end around guys like Upshall and company or D like Weber as he will get his ass handed to him badly, unlike with the stuff he gets away with in junior.

I would stick with Mcbain, he has established himself as a solid NHL defender who is trustworthy and plays lots of minutes and is counted on to generate offence from the back end...As much potential as Murphy has it is tough to keep him over Mcbain because you just bever know where he will be in 2 to 3 years to many ifs and buts in my thoughts.
