Subban
Goligoski
Don't get to see Goligoski play much - is he the real deal?
How close are these guys - *points only* Short Term/Long Term?
I'm a pretty big Subban fan - I think that's why i need some objectivity.
Thanks!

I think Subban will be the overwhelming favorite but I think it's pretty close. Goli is great on the PP and looks to create offense whenever he is on the ice. While PK is going through some growing pains, he is going to be a minute muncher in his prime whereas Goli will probably always be a PP spe******t/offensive dman who is used a bit more conservatively in other situations.

While Subban may be the more fun to own because of his tendency to hit things, give me Goligoski every day. Both had 14 goals last season but look deeper. Subban got his in 77 games because he plays a style that will result in him being dinged here and there.
Goligoski got his 14 goals in 83 games played because of this trade but break his numbers down even further. He had 9 goals with 4 on the PP in 60 games for the Pens. He had 5 goals with 3 on the PP in 23 games in Dallas. Brad Richards was real good but there is no way he played with better overall talent when he got to the Stars. They just installed him as their #1 offensive dman and his stats reflected that. Goli is not big and wont play that kind of game but in a points only league, he has to be your pick.

Goligoski is absolutely the real deal. He runs a pretty good powerplay, and from what I've seen, he moves his feet on that blue line, creating more opportunities than many QB's. That said, give me Subban. The kid wants to be a star, and he seems to have an unwavering drive and attitude that will help him throughout his career.
Long term, Subban for sure, for me. Short term it's a little closer, meaning Goli MAY outpoint Subban this coming season, possibly even next, but not enough for me to recommend him over Subban. PK will score more goals, too, in my opinion, if that matters in your league.
Subban. Of course Goligoski could be feeding Souray bombs all year.

Hmmm...
I've got a HUGE Subban/Habs fan that's offered me*
Goligoski + Lidstrom
For
Subban
Straight up, I would probably stick with Subban, but Lidstrom would be filling a Rafalski-sized hole in my line up. *Lidstrom would also be a pretty good stop-gap until OEL and Rundblad are warming up.
If Subban looks this good in his rookie season how good will he look when he's Gogo's age?!
in his final 50 games (including playoffs) he notched 31 points!
That's a 50 point pace - assuming he doesn't improve or regress.
Is Lidstrom enough to tip the scales towards the Gogo side?*
I'm assuming Lidstrom will be gone after this year, I'm looking at it as which DMan I want long term.

I'd go with Goligoski. He is THE guy in Dallas whereas Montreal has Andrei Markov. I also watch the Stars a lot just to see Goligoski....he's scary good.

I say PULL THAT TRIGGER. You know you get Lidstrom for at least this season and possibly even one more. Subban is just as good as Goligoski and maybe SLIGHTLY better but Goligoski is the MAN in Dallas and it is not like you are taking a step down from Subban to Goligoski. In Points-Only league setting I think you have to take Goligoski/Lidstrom over Subban. Big Win this year. Maybe even a big win next year. And real close every year after.

Even if you are not in contention you should be able to flip Lidstrom for a nice return. I'd make this trade.

Fair trade even though I like Subban better than Goligoski.
You absolutely must do that trade.
If it was Subban vs Goligoski, I would stick with Subban...but Lidstrom, despite maybe only having this year left, is still an elite talent.
If you think you're close to finishing in the money this coming year, you have to jump all over the trade.
Even if you don't think you have a chance, I still think you have to do it. The flipping possibilities on Lidstrom are huge, too.
TRADE ACCEPTED!
I even squeezed an extra 3rd round pick out of the deal.
I think I have decent shot at the top this year despite not having any of the big 3 or 4 or whatever.
THANKS GUYS!

MTL offense is pretty weak as top 3 forward on Dallas in Eriksson, Benn, and Ribiero trump anyone on MTL offensively and Ribiero is a point-per-game playmaking talent himself so don't expect any appreciable drop in production next season from Eriksson.
That being said Goligoski is a decent puck mover, but he'll be deferring the SOG to Sheldon the hammer for the near future so i'm not liking his short-term scope nearly as much. I only believe he is a mid-high 40's talent offensively. Subban is about low 50's talent so that's where i'd invest even though his offense won't carry him nearly as far in MTL as Dallas will for Goligoski. I still like his odds of 50+ better than Goligoski's
Another thing to think about - sure Dallas lost their best player but I think the puck will be going through Goli more on the PP now with him and Rib setting up the likes of Benn, Eriksson, Morrow, Souray, etc...
