Columnist Changes

It is with some regret that I announce the departures of both Jeffrey Renaud, of Dr Gregg's Prospect Prescription and Russ Miller of "Eastern Edge". Renaud has a lot of things on the go with a young family and a full plate of freelancing work. Miller is back to Afghanistan for the next year.

For Russ, it is nearly four years of writing for me. We've all enjoyed his columns and his style. And hopefully he'll be back with us in a year or two. For Jeff, he has brought a great new angle to the prospects column, going deep by talking to scouts and coaches to give us the full inside scoop.


Replacing Renaud is a familiar face - Stuart McDonald, who had that column back in 2009 for nearly a full year. He'll be back with "Stu's Slant" every Saturday.

Replacing Miller is another familiar face - Tim Lucarelli, who has had a column called "Dub and Chase" every Sunday, and now moves into the big time by taking on the Eastern Conference on behalf of DobberHockey. Tim rose through the ranks via The Black Aces, which is a section in the forum where aspiring fantasy hockey writers can show off what they can do. Tim's spot on Sunday will be filled by various contributions from the Black Aces - so if you want to increase your odds of getting published on the home page, shoot for a Saturday or early Sunday submission in The Black Aces (PG Advised section)!

And finally, speaking of the Black Aces, we have our third promotion from there - you know him as Dean Youngblood, but he's Brendan Ross - and he will be supplementing Matt Bugg's under-18 prospects material. Bugg has added a lot to his plate, including scouting for McKeen's, so having a second writer to fill the gaps is a great way to keep that material fresh. It also gives Ross the exposure he needs for when Bugg inevitably moves onto become a pro scout.
