Maurice is certainly looking to emulate teams with more depth. That Lewis placement is a real head scratcher though.

I guess Maurice didn't want to break up Ehlers Scheifele and Copp..... The opportunities keep up for Copp.. who should have shot on that 2-0 instead of giving it back to Elhers, whom Markstrom knew was getting the pass back for the shot... Need to see less of that from Copp if he's gonna stick with those two top producers.

You keep beating this horse but I doubt you’ll be convincing many folks that a career 12% shooter like Ehlers, who has scored 25 or better in 3 of the past 4 seasons and paced for that in the 4th, is a weak producer. He might leave viewers wanting more but he’s no Lehkonen.

I love it! I like having fun with this stuff and these posts a great. Although I do really think Maurice is a bad coach. Roslovic sure suddenly seems to have learned how to play hockey. I wonder why Maurice wasn’t able to get any use our of him? It must just be that Torts is a really nice guy and is giving ice time out like valentines heart candies...

Haven't watched Ros but he's putting up good numbers right now, no doot about it. He did seem capable of better, maybe not quite this good, but his usage in the Peg did often seem questionable.

What I find much tastier as far as story lines go is Laine getting benched for the 3rd and a good part of the 2nd. Is he just a diva and Torts said **** that or has he played like crap?

Maurice is an average coach, but he sure has hell lasted a pretty long time for an average coach.....


Some things are for sure and jump out, simple eye test: this team's PP is a little predictable and strikes not because the system is effective, but it relies heavily on the players' individual talents to make near perfect plays, their PK plays a small box that is way too deep on itself and defensively, and they don't cover very well (if at all lol) in their own end.

So maybe it is coaching......

This is such a hard team to watch defensively.

On one goal Chiasson scores after Scheifele breaks his stick. Instead of following his man (Chiasson), he turns away from him and lets him walk right to the front of the net in the close slot to receive a pass and roof it over a defenseless Hellebuyck. That isn't coaching, it's defensive stupidity. For all the "Scheifele is a student of the game" crap you hear, hit the books pal. Don't quit on a play just because you broke your stick. Just shove Chiasson or at least get in his way a little..... Nope.
