You have to think Niku is going to get a lot of ice this year. Anyone think he can start putting up some numbers that might make us hopeful? He has tools...

Slavin I meant...
He’ll need to be sheltered, Niku, if he’s gonna put up important numbers. I don’t think he’s ready for north of 22 a night against quality opponents, every night.
I know the jets were disappointed with Stanley last year and Poolman looked like he took a step back. Both will need to take big steps to push Niku up the lineup to allow him to play regularly.
from what i have read several teams have asked about Roslovic in the past , i think they bite the bullitt and trade for a D , if they dont see him in the top 6 and continue to use Little as 2C then its a necessary move for position need.

Jack has to have a great camp to be 2C. I don't think they have any issue using Little at C3 if Jack can show he can handle it. I don't think he's done that so let's see that first.
Jets will need to play some watertight defence next year the way things are shaping up. They need a really strong shutdown C, one better than Lowry.

I like Roslovic but I just don't see him as a 2C. They need someone with size, a trade is the only way they are going to get one.
If they are going to play watertight defense, they are probably going to need more than 3 or 4 defensemen too. I was really hoping they'd keep Chiarot, he's a solid blueliner.

I agree about Chiarot. I really thought they'd find a way to keep him. In the exit interviews he sounded sincere in wanting to stay.
Am I the only one who thinks they should give Wheeler a good look at center again? A one-two of Scheifele and Wheeler up the middle could be pretty great, and they've got enough speed and talent on the wings to make that work (Roslovic is a winger in my eyes). Little or Copp as 3rd and Lowry as a solid 4th line center. Wheeler and Scheifele can both run a line, so I'd give it an extended try.

Whatever mix of what’s left
Ain’t that bad. I really liked Tanev but Pittsburgh overpaid on term and if you’re him you have to take it.
Yeah, that is just such a ridiculously bad contract. As a Penguins fan, I'm totally shook how miserable Rutherford has been (especially in free-agency) since those back to back Cups. In any event ... I was thinking about potential lines and I was getting to thinking about Vesalainen. Is there any chance he ends up with the big club next season? The guy has flat-out good production so far as a professional in various different leagues.
Ehlers-Scheifele-Laine
Connor-Wheeler-Vesalainen
Perrault-Little-Roslovic
Copp-Lowry-Appleton
Something like that? Seems ... not bad. Seems not bad at all.

If Vesalainen has that spot it means he earned it because that’s a deep Winnipeg team he has to crack. I don’t mind a second line with wheeler and little alternating as C. Connor can retrieve and drive play, Wheeler too and he and little have familiarity and chemistry. I would keep them together and have Perreault on a third line with Roslo and Lowry, with Copp as 4C and we’ll see where Vesalainen earns a spot. To me it’s between him and Appleton for a scoring line spot because I would hate to use either in a checking capacity.
