    Default Phaneuf next year

I'm probably keeping him for his hits, and shot totals, along with PIMs. I'm curious about his points though. He seriously regressed over the years, but this last season he seemed to find a spark and especially after Kaberle left. I feel like he should get over 30 points this year. What do you guys expect. I know his upside is higher, but what is realistic for next year?

You did see him 2nd half last season right?

He really started to turn it around. Dont think u will ever see the former DP, but 40pts+ is not out of the question.

I could see him getting to 40-45pts again this year, especially now that Kaberle is out and he's the undisputed go-to Dman.

I would say 30pts is the low ceiling. Bank on 35pts, the rest being gravy. Cheers.

I did see him second half of the season so thats why I think he'll be worth keeping. I'm just curious as to what people bank on him doing. I think 30 should be his low and hopefully he hits 40+.

all depends on what the leafs do in the offseason. if burke can get some good pieces, everyone should benefit and phaneuf should have no problem hitting 40. otherwise...

This was posted somewhere before by another Dobberite, I can't remember who it was?

When Phaneuf is the clear-cut number 1 D on the team (pre-JBo and post-Kaberle), he posted 221 points in 347 games... for a point-per-game average of 0.64 points per game (52 points pro-rated over 82 games). When he was playing second fiddle or competing with someone for ice-time, he picked up just 47 points in 123 games, 0.38 points-per-game (31 points pro-rated over 82 games).

So it's a drastic difference when he is the "go-to" guy to when he isn't.

I think most of the forumers hit it right on the head, 35 is pretty much a surefire lock, but I wouldn't be surprised to see upwards of 50+ if things click.

I think Dion has a pretty good year next year - probably 40-45 points.

In a points only league, Dion is turning into a dog that wont even make it into my daily lineups on a regular basis. The STINK of JayBo must have rubbed off on him. Sure, he rebounded a little bit down the stretch but COME ONE?!?!!? Phaneuf SPOILED fantasy owners with his FILTHY first three seasons. 8 goals and 30 points in 66 games is VANILLA AS VANILLA GETS. Especially for someone that has TWO 17 goal and one 20 goal season on his resume. If I wanted vintage Roman Hamrlik numbers, I would have just drafted him instead.
