Like I said, you have to beat the best to be the best. It would be much more satisfying to beat the Pens with Sid on the team. I hope he gets better. I'm a hockey fan more than anything else. I'd never want him to retire unless he was 40 years old.
You should tell her that lol

Yeah I know what you mean - being a competitive rival and all. I didn't really believe you wanted him to remain hurt (although I quoted you), just used it to mention the way I felt about it.

They're cautiously optimistic b/c they don't really know how he's doing. Crosby hasn't talked to team personnel, players or media recently and we're only a month from training camp.

If I was Lemieux, I'd keep a close eye on on my generational talent's health. Like, every day... IMO, if they realy dont know, its because Crosby is just fine and the news is just media hype...

I don't think nagging Sid daily about his health status is the best way to deal with this injury.

Hey, that is the first good news I've heard. That sounds much better. I'm glad they think he'll recover. The game needs him to be ok. He should just continue to take his sweet time.

i actually find this news more scary than I do reassuring...the fact that he's traveling all over the country consulting multiple experts in the field suggests that his symptoms aren't going away and he is not progressing as well as had been hoped

Was streaming the Team 990 earlier and they had on the guy who covers the NHL for SI (I believe) and he said that he is very worried about Crosby. He's been trying to get info all summer and said that everyone is being very "cloak and dagger" about it, which he finds worrisome.

Of course this is just one man's opinion but he sounded genuine. I hope Sid is okay and can continue playing at a high level over the long haul.

Even though I can't stand the Pens, as a hockey fan, I would feel robbed if Crosby's career were shortened because of this.

The EF article was right on.

What's a whole season for ten more? Why rush anything? The rest of the world doesn't have the patience. He should. It's his own health. Even if doctors or his family are saying retirement, he should be thinking about his own health and not jumping to any conclusions either way.

I really don't know what all the other doctors are going to tell you what you couldn't get from a few spe******ts anyways. It's the human brain. It seems these type of injures are at the early stages of our collective understanding. Bergeron took a few seasons to come back 100%. Even then, his game changed.

Screw the rest of the world. Crosby should take as long as he needs. Must be scary to have your brain fail you for so long. Why risk anymore for hockey?

Whenever I hear more information on "Crosby's Concussion" I always seem to flashback to the original diagnosis where "experts" were deadset on describing it as a "minor concussion". Obviously the status of concussions can change but it seemed like the league/team was hush hush on his concussion for quite a long time.

That is the reason I will not trust any projection on when Crosby will return this season. I would be surprised to see if he plays in more than 55-60 games. You have to think that there is a good chance for a recurring concussion somewhere down the line - and that is SCARY...for all hockey fans.

yeah dude, I agree with you and Shao, there is nothing 'minor' about a concussion, and there's definitely nothing minor about it when you are still suffering symptoms almost 9 months later. If he comes back too soon all its going to take is one crack to the noggin and he goes AWOL from the league for a couple years like Pierre Marc Bouchard. There is increasing evidence that there is an element of genetic predisposition to concussions...that's why some guys can't shake the symptoms, even after a benign hit while others (like Horton, Pacioretty) seem to suffer no long term ill effects
