I posted this in the OHL Ramblings but it might be better in its own thread
Ian Jenkins (G) was the London Knights' 2011 2nd Round pick of the 2011 OHL Priority Selection Draft.
Jenkins was involved in an accident with a pickup truck Thursday afternoon. Jenkins is currently in critical condition.
Please put this young kid into your prayers

I don't know anything about this kid but anytime a young person is killed it's devastating news. Tough one to read about, especially when you've got kids of your own.

Wow...15 years old. Such a shame.
Goalies: If I'm pickin em you best be sittin em!
I never know what to say in these situations. There but for the Grace, I guess.
I just hope that nobody here is ever in the position that the poor kid's parents must find themselves in right now. Best wishes to all involved.
T.G.
I have some news on the situation. Ian is still alive. He is fighting for his life still. In incredibly stable condition, but still alive.
Let us hope for a miracle.

Thanks TK. To add, the Jenkins family has released a statement on Ian's situation.
"Although Ian is still here at the University of Michigan Health System, there is very little chance that this situation will resolve in the way that everyone might be hoping it will," read the statement released by Joel Jenkins.
"We know there has been confusion over Ian's status, and we hope to know more in the coming hours. When there is a resolution we will share it. In case the worst happens, we have already made arrangements for Ian to live on and save lives through organ donation."
Joel went on to thank everyone for their support.
"On behalf of Ian's entire family, and Ian, I want to thank everyone who has sent thoughts, prayers and wishes over the past three days," the statement read. "The outpouring of support has been overwhelming and has showed us how much Ian means to everyone, not just because he's great at stopping hockey pucks, but because he is an extraordinary young man.
"Our thanks go to Huron Valley Ambulance and the U-M Trauma Burn Center for the care they have provided to Ian since Thursday. Special thanks go to Ian's daytime nurse, Jay. We couldn't have gotten through this without him."
Joel's statement touched on Ian's love of hockey and what it meant for him to be drafted in the OHL by the Knights.
“Ian's dream was to make it to the highest levels of hockey, and he did so last Wednesday when he signed with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League," the statement continued. "No matter what happens, he had the happiest two weeks of his life leading up to that day, and all of us on Ian's family 'team' were thrilled to be part of that.
“We hope that everyone will keep Ian's siblings Lester, Garrett and Cassidy in your thoughts and prayers. They will carry on his legacy and will need love and support."
The situation has touched many, even those who don't know Ian Jenkins.
"This is beyond sad," said Knights' general manager Mark Hunter. "There's no comments that can be made. What do you say? What can you talk about? It's not right. Its just not right."
Not much we can do but hope and send sincere condolences to the family.
Just a kid - 15 yrs old. Anytime a young person goes through something like this, it really saddens me.

An article on Jenkins I came across reading other boards. Not only was he a very talented goalie, he seemed to be the kind of kid that everyone wanted to hang out with.
Such a horrible thing to have happened, my thoughts and prayers to all his family and friends.
Godspeed Ian. RIP
