If I had to put my money on it, I'd have to go with Timmy T right now. However, with Bergeron being out, and the fact that he's the soul of that team, I have no idea haha
Welcome to the 2011 Eastern Conference Showdown!
This battle features the Boston Bruins vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning!
How they got here:
Both Boston and Tampa went the distance in the First Round, winning their respective Game 7. Now both teams enter the Eastern Conference Finals having swept Washington (TBL), the number one seed, and Philadelphia (BOS), the number two seed, in the Second Round.
Tampa Bay beat out Pittsburgh and Washington, similar to Montreal last year (although different order) to be in the Eastern Conference Finals against Boston who were given the chance to hit the reset button on last years Game 4 loss to the Flyers, allowing them to change their playoff fate. (As you know, the Flyers went on the complete a four game sweep after being down 3-0 in the series against the Bruins last year.)
So it is easy to see that both Tampa and Boston are entering the series with emotions flying high as the Lightning courageously taking the underdog title defeated their Goliath, and the Bruins have finally fought off their biggest demons in Montreal (History) and Philadelphia in a 1-2 punch.
Season series: Bruins won three of four games.
Nov. 22, Lightning 3, Bruins 1;
Dec. 2, Bruins 8, Lightning 1;
Dec. 28, Bruins 4, Lightning 3;
March 3, Bruins 2, Lightning 1.
Who takes the East? Thoughts?
If I had to put my money on it, I'd have to go with Timmy T right now. However, with Bergeron being out, and the fact that he's the soul of that team, I have no idea haha

Given that Bergeron's okay:
Boston in 5
I still think that Tampa's D can be exploited, the Pens didn't have the personnel, the Caps didn't seem to have the ability to adjust their game to Tampa's odd scheme.
The Bruins have the personnel, the coaching, and the movtivation. With all due respect to Stevie Y and the Bolts, I think they're outclassed here.

Boston in 6. They might take a game or two to get comfortable playing against a defensive style like in the Montreal series but in the end Boston takes it.

Yeah, that's who and the number that has been floating around in my head. But I think it's a fine line between that and Bruins in 5. If the Lightning get Mo going for them in the first two games, I really like their chances.
I think it will be an interesting series regardless - two junk yard dogs in goal. Gotta love it.
