Goldie says: The Sharks have put Thomas Greiss on re-entry waivers. Interesting. What a good opportunity for a team like Colorado to get a skilled goalie capable of being a starter at half-price. I'll be watching.

Any other Greiss owners out there? What do you see happening with this? Could we be looking at a surprise starter next year, if the Avs pick him up?

This could be a huge boost in his value! Regardless if the team is good or not. He may finally get a solid chances at playing some games.

He was part of a Bobrovsky deal I made early in the season. It could really pay off!

No news yet, but it's worth noting that he cleared re-entry waivers once already this season (in October). Of course, the Avs are one Craig Anderson short in the goaltending department since then. But their pipeline was already weak and he only costs $550K, so if they didn't grab him then, they may not value him all that highly.

i find this weird also. maybe they are thinking there current goalies arent up to playoff level but a rookie is? OR there is some injury concern to one of the others..

As an Avs fan this sort of thing continually pisses me off. Why do we never put in a claim for goalies that go on waivers? Bryzgalov (even though I think PHX may have had the higher claim at the time), Greiss, Leighton, I know there are others I am missing. Take a damn chance for crying out loud!

What news are you expecting? He's serving as Sharks' 3rd goalie in the playoffs so his season isn't over yet. European teams can't technically announce a contract with him while he's still playing in NHL and Sharks can't trade him while they're still playing.

Yeah you're right - I was thinking more of something perhaps sneaking out of the rumor mill. Because I am carrying him on a couple of roster, I am keeping an eye peeled for news but really don't expect anything until into July.
