    Default Goalie Starts (Tonight and beyond) REP!!

    I'm in the finals and need some advice on goalie starting.

    My question is:
    Would you start Crawford against St. Louis tonight?

    My goalies: Luongo, Rinne, Crawford
    Opponent's goalies: Price, Neuvirth, Varlamov

    My Goalie Stats (6 starts so far):
    W=5 GAA= 1.82 SV%= .940 SO= 1

    His Goalie Stats (2 start so far):
    W = 2 GAA = 1.48 Sv% = .961 SO = 0

    My projected goalie starts for the rest of the week:
    Wednesday: Crawford Vs. St. Louis
    Thursday: Luongo Vs. Minnesota
    Friday: Rinne Vs. Columbus / Crawford @ Detroit
    Saturday: Luongo @ Calgary / Rinne @ St. Louis
    Sunday: Crawford Vs. Detroit

    Opponents projected goalie starts for rest of week:
    Wednesday: Washington G Vs. Florida
    Thursday: Price @ Ottawa
    Friday: N/A
    Saturday: Washington G Vs. Florida / Price @ Toronto

    After a quick look. I appear to have better goalies and more starts on the week. My opponent seems to have less challenging opponents.

    Any comments, ideas or strategies are welcome. If you don't respond regarding my Crawford start tonight, I'd still like to hear your up to date paths to go down.
    Start 'em all or be selective with my starts? If the later, which starts would you make?

    Rep will be given to those with constructive advice.

    Cheers,

    Hoppy

    Well the week is still early...I wouldn't be benching anybody right now because at this stage you have nothing to lose. It would make no sense for somebody to pick starts for you right now because the texture of your matchup is going to change.
    Also thought I should point out to you not to expect a Luongo start against Minnesota. They're very determined to get the Jennings Trophy so expect Schneider to get the start against Minnesota and Luongo back in net against Calgary to warm up for the playoffs.

    I would start all the goalies, as I am not very good at predicting when to sit a goalie. It always bites me in the ass..

    Plus, if you start all yours, you got more chance at the SO, and W

    even if your GAA and SV% don't improve, you aren't winning those yet anyway...

    Default Updated Stats as of Friday Morning

    Thanks for the comments. Keep em coming!

    My goalie stats (4 starts): W= 3 GAA= 1.98 SV%= .928 SO= 1
    His Goalie Stats (2 starts): W= 2 GAA= 1.48 Sv%= .961 SO= 0

    My series is currently 7-3 for him. He has a pretty solid lead in most offensive categories but I'm still easily in a position where I could catch him with two full lineups tonight and tomorrow. He has 6 more assists, 8 more points, 5 more +/-, and 5 more PPP. Everything else is no worse than a coinflip.

    I have two starts tonight:
    Rinne Vs. Columbus / Crawford @ Detroit

    Would you make both?
    I have no doubts about starting Rinne Vs. Columbus. Detroit is a little intimidating but Crawford has their number on the season.

    My opponent still needs at least one more start. He has two easy, and likely starts left from one of his Washington Gs Vs. Florida and Price @ Toronto. I'm gonna need his goalies to really underachieve and mine to play equal or better than they did all year for a shot at taking GAA/SV%.
    I'm guessing I'll continue to go with autostart until one of his goalies blows it for him.

    Personally if it were my team I would stay the course and play Craw and Rinne.
    Rinne to me is a must start at any time just because of his potential to post a shutout
    Crawford I would start because Chicago is riding a high right now trying to insure a playoff spot. There's a lot of guys with a lot of heart on that team...and I would feel confident rolling a goalie like Crawford behind them.

    Good luck though either way.

    Default Updated Stats as of daytime Saturday

    RINNE STARTS IN ONE HOUR SO GET YOUR RESPONSES IN SOON
    Edit: It turns out that he's benching Price tonight so ignore anything that says my opponent is making two starts.

    **I hope the length of my response doesn't turn people away.**

    Once again thanks for the contributions b0ndon. Would it be fair for me to give you multiple +rep in the same thread?

    My Goalie Stats (6 starts so far):
    W=5 GAA= 1.82 SV%= .940 SO= 1
    His Goalie Stats (2 start so far):
    W = 2 GAA = 1.48 Sv% = .961 SO = 0

    I'm currently losing 6-4 and he won the season series tiebreaker. The only category out of reach in the whole matchup is my 5 wins to his 2. Every other category could plausibly be won, lost or tied; although his outlook is slightly better from the offense and goaltending perspective.

    Trotz confirmed Rinne against St. Louis tonight and Luongo's riding the pine. The impact that starting Rinne has on my week's stats:
    0 Goals against - 1.56 GAA
    1 goal against - 1.70 GAA
    2 goals against - 1.84 GAA
    3 goals against - 1.99 GAA

    Impact of starting both of his goalies on his week's stats
    3 (1.5 average each) goals against - 1.49 GAA
    4 (2 each) goals against - 1.74 GAA
    5 (2.5 each) goals against - 1.99 GAA

    Impact of starting Rinne on week's SV% totals (Sv% has more variables like shots against so it's not very useful)
    .900 = .930% total on the week
    .920 = .937%
    .940 = .940%
    .960 = .943%
    .980 = .945%
    1.00 = .949%

    Impact of his to starts on his week's stats
    .900 = .931 average
    .910 = .936 average
    .920 = .941 average
    .930 = .955 average

    One advantage I have is that my opponent's goalies start an hour earlier than Rinne. This will allow me to pick whether if I should start Rinne or not based on a portion of my opponents games.

    My question of the day for you is:
    Should I dress Rinne regardless?
    If Not, what situation based on my opponents games would you feel comfortable starting him with

    I've done so much thinking that I'm worn out.. Maybe I just start him if my opponent's goalies are doing good and bench Rinne if they're doing bad?

    I wish you all luck in your final matchups. Thanks a lot for reading

    Cheers,

    Hoppy

    Don't worry about rep man it's no big deal to me. I was actually wrong about luongo not getting the start on Wednesday. Good thing you played him.
    I'm gonna be honest with you if it were me I would still start rinne since you're still not winning. It kind of annoys me how much of a p*ssy your opponent is being. If I'm right he hasn't made a start since Tuesday?
    Anyways, that's just how I feel about that. Leave it all on the table and see how the cards lay. Good luck either way.

    Definitely dress Rinne, this guy has been lights out.
    The only thing I'd worry about it the possibility that he is tired, but I doubt it.

    PS give Bondon a rep

    Yeah you can only give out rep to the same poster ever so often. I just looked back and realized that he actually did make a 3rd start on Wednesday so all my stats on his numbers are garbage. In his defense about bitchiness, he hasn't had a start since Wednesday (I can see why you thought since Tuesday where I said he only had 2 starts still) as Price was benched in Montreal's start Thursday.

    Rinne's getting started
    If things don't work out I'll start Crawford tomorrow.
