Lupul how long is he out for? Any news?

hmmmm.. well, he pretty much did the same thing that TJ Ford of the toronto raptors did (except ford has a history of neck/spinal injuries)... lupul has some of the same symptoms as ford and ford is hoping to be back before the end of hte year... i dont expect lupul to be out that long because he doesnt have a history of these problems... i would expect him back close to valentine\'s day

He will be out at least 4 weeks, I would say possibly up to six or more weeks. Right now the doctor\'s diagnosis has him doing absolutely zero physical activity for two weeks, in which time he will be re-evaluated.

With a spinal contusion in two of his vertebrae and a mild concussion, you dont want to see him back in two weeks. if somehow the Flyers medical staff allows him to play at that time, he will not be productive at all. As long as they wait it out and let him fully recover, it should be alright.

Bottom line, if you have a chance to pick up someone who will help you roster in the next two weeks, take him instead. If not, you can pick up Lupul, but you will probably see a report in about two weeks stating how much longer he is out of the lineup. Your choice.

Flyers winger Joffrey Lupul, currently out with a spinal cord contusion and mild concussion, visited with his doctor this afternoon at Pennsylvania Hospital. He spoke with 610 WIP during the first intermission of the Flyers-Panthers game at the Wachovia Center.

Q: Give us the update on your doctor’s (Dr. William Welch, neurosurgeon at Pennsylvania Hospital) appointment today.
Lupul: “They did a little work on my head. I had a concussion and they feel that has come along pretty well. I have been cleared to start exercising next week as far as off ice, like bike rides and maybe lift some weights and things like that.

\"As far as the neck goes, it’s still unclear there. It looks like it’s going to be maybe a little longer then first anticipated by me, anyway. I am going to keep working on that, and hopefully go back in a couple weeks and get another MRI. If that is all good, hopefully [I’ll] be in the lineup by the start of February.”
