    Default Under the radar d-man?

I'm just curious about whether anyone knows any potential sleeper defencemen that could make an impact in the NHL next season.

In my league, a lot of young good defencemen are already gone. Players in the top 10 defencemen free agents include guys like Anton Babchuk, Roman Hamrlik, Stephane Robidas and Joe Corvo.

Young guys like Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Jamie McBain, Dmitry Kulikov, etc. are already taken.

So generally, I'm looking for a potential rookie next season, or a young guy who is going to surprise everyone for a breakout year. I know it's a bit early to be thinking of things like that, but I'm looking to make some trades as soon as the regular season ends, so I need to figure out where I can draft a good young guy so I can keep that pick. (Ie- if it's someone totally under the radar, I'll just keep a fifth rounder). I'm already compiling my list of targeted players.

So any thoughts of a potential breakout guy? Right now, I'm targeting Brandon Gormley, Lee Sweatt, Calvin de Haan and Erik Gustafsson, but I'm just looking to cover my bases.

Alex Urbom and Matt Toarmina of the NJD. Both had great starts and have potential, especially in NJ where they lack a PP qb.

    Andrew Macdonald of the NYI.

Thanks. I have Andrew MacDonald in mind as well, but I'm worried about what will happen with his ice time and stats once Mark Streit comes back.

I'll keep an eye on the other two as well.

    Thanks for the help.

I don't know what your league is like but I'd jump all over Robidas or Babchuk.

For sure... I don't know if I'll trust Streit's health after his injury, and he is older, but Mcdonald has good potential.
