All of my Bruins sources tell me that they have been close to trading Ullmark multiple times this off-season. He's the more likely goalie to be dealt this summer and they will run Swayman and Bussi. So now's the time to sell on Ullmark as there's no better defensive team than last year's Bruins and to buy on both Swayman and Bussi.

Very interesting, any idea on most likely trade destinations for Ullmark? Bearing in mind he has a 16-team no-trade list right so that will impact things.

I imagine the Devils with their forward depth and deep prospect pool would be enticing for the Bruins, and he'd surely go there, though not sure they'd want to trade him to an Eastern Conference squad. Out West, Winnipeg obviously but they're almost certainly on the no-trade list. Maybe Seattle or LA?

If true, winning the vezina aint what it used to be if you just get traded months after being awarded the trophy. Fleury and now possibly Ullmark? jeez

I definitely could see it though. they have higher priorities for cap space allocation than spending 8.5-9m in goalies

Big time, there is no way they can have that amount of cap tied up in goalies - not with their desperate need for proven scoring Cs.

It's interesting, with the right move here Boston can go from a major problem to actually maintaining solid contender status over several more years. Either Swayman or Ullmark should fetch them a great addition at C, especially if they can add to the package.

LA screams as a logical destination.
Opposite conference and a team in need of a #1G
they can't run Talbot & Copley all year and hope to make the playoffs in that division.

Either G would be an easy piece to flip to Bos as a back up to Swayman.

    LOL

BTW a guy can be traded coming off an arbitration award, right? No timing restriction?

    Ya they can.

I do believe the only thing that's a different rule with arbitration is that if the contract awarded by the arbitrator is over like $4.5xxx the team can decide not to accept it and then the player becomes a UFA instantly. I think this is only for a Player Filed Arbitration case though.

    Thanks.

Speculation will ramp up now about a trade - I know Ullmark is the more likely candidate to leave but something tells me it’ll be Swayman as he may (weirdly perhaps) bring bigger return.

Ya I don't know how intense the Bruins will be at trading Swayman. They have the space (~$5.43m) to keep Swayman. They have the roster spots that make sense to just hold (12F/8D/2G), and even space to send like Ian Mitchell through waivers and sign Josh Bailey if Swayman is at $3.5m.

$5.43m - $3.5m (Swayman) + $775k (Mitchell) = ~$2.705m in space to sign Bailey, Tatar, Kane, Donskoi, Kessel, Parise, Heinen, Krecji, Stepan.

They have almost $31m in space next season when big guys are up for deals across the NHL. I wonder how much of their plan is to just reset after this upcoming season. Swayman is someone they should want to hold onto as he's on the right age path for their window. But we all know the chances of him on the team after 2yrs after the arbitration case.

Yup I agree but Ullmark is still relatively young too. We’ll see.Maybe it’s my Swayman owner glasses on that is prompting me to see Swayman elsewhere, but either way will be good once he’s finally undisputed no 1.

Sounds like Krecji is retiring. No surprise really though.

One of my favourite self-made fantasy hockey team names was: Ice Krejci Treats.
Happy I choose different players for different seasons - really helps me grow an affection towards them.
Always came across as a total professional and somebody that made the most with their hockey IQ and skills.
    I will miss him.
