Keeper league

I'm focused on keeping the 2 or 3 guys who can make most competitive next year to 3 years from now. I'm also interested in how you would rank all 6. Here's mine.

Letang
Weber
Byfuglien
Kaberle
Ehrhoff
Lidstrom

If Lidstrom comes back I may keep the guy again... would you?

Letang/Weber/Byfuglien are the top 3, Lidstrom if he plays would be good on a year-to-year basis but due to age he's likely to be an easy re-draft. Ehrhoff may not be in Van next year, which I think hurts his long term value a bit, and Kaberle just isn't the same guy he used to be in my opinion.

If it's 2 guys it's really easy, Letang and Weber. If you take it to 3 then it's between Kaberle and Byfuglien in my books, probably siding with Kaberle because, while he's started slowly with the Bruins, he could easily be a 60+ Dman on that squad for the next 3 years with huge PPP totals plus he should be solid plus/minus wise. i would trust him more than Byfuglien.

With the list you have available, I would not take Lidstrom, he's god-like but too much risk that he retires after next year (or even in this offseason, say if the Wings manage to win the Cup).

Firstly, I would keep Lidstrom as long as he's a wing. No doubt. The guy is just ageless and I think he as at least one more in the tank.

Ranking for this year and let's say the next 2 years:

Letang

PP with Crosby and Malkin? I'll take even an orange cone or crushed soda can at that slot.

Weber

Just coming off some personal struggles. He's a beast and scores a ton. Preds are a good D team, so +/- should be good. Only concern is PP. They need a game breaker forward (cough..Radulov..)

Lidstrom

(he's only here because of the retirement risk, otherwise he's #1)

Ehrhoff

(depending on where Kaberle signs, he and Ehrhoff switch)

Byfuglien

(starting to slide. could be bottom by next year. was never a believer of the ppg D side of him)

Kaberle

(hasn't looked good in a while. dunno what's up. He climbs based on signing, as said above)


For the next 3 years, I will assume Lidstrom has retired (ie. this is my year 3 ranking):

Well, there's no SOG or PIM cats, so really the standard PP stats plus reg pt stats apply and while I am going against the grain perhaps, I'm not so sure Byfuglien is the long term stud that some think he is. Again, that's just me and perhaps I am very wrong because he is killing it this year on D, but his pts/g since january have been awful. Still, I guess he made all the points you need in just half a season lol.....but since the cats don't have the goals more weighted (outside gwg) and don't count PIMs or SOG, someone like Ehrhoff has just as much value as Byfuglien. In SOG and PIM leagues tho, he is a super stud, especially this year...His +/- is better than I thought, but still not great as compared to others on that list. In fact, using your cats, Ehrhoff is worth more right now than Byfuglien..and he plays on a way way better team (if he stays there for term).

I'd love to keep 3 defenders but given my team that would mean not keeping either Zetterberg or ward (crosby, malkin, giroux, luongo and duchene are staying for sure).

I'm not so convinced keeping byfuglien or lidstrom is a smart choice over zetts or ward but I'd like to hear your opinions of you think otherwise.

Are you really sure you want to keep Duchene over a guy like Ward? If I were you, I'd ride with Crosby, Malkin, Giroux, Letang, Weber, Luongo, Ward and then as the last choice I'd probably go Zetterberg, he's so dominant when he's on and he's still relatively young. But I think Kaberle will have a huge impact in Boston if he re-signs there so he's an option, but I think I'd stick with Zetterberg.

Letang, Byfuglien, Weber...young guys with only 1 of them being in their prime...gives you the most stability for years to come...

Lidstrom is good but he is gonna hang it up soon and I personally wouldnt want to gamble on when...

4 is a toss up btw Kabs and Ehrhoff and CE is only there because the talent around him.
