Thumbs up The "I WAS RIGHT" thread (2012-2013 Edition)

Well... that time of the year.

Here's a thread on me saying that Rinne wouldn't finish top 15 in either GAA or SV%.

    My (crazy) predictions.

Not right on all of them, but close enough.

    1. Ottawa wins the Northeast Division
    2. Islanders make the playoffs
    3. Strome puts up more points than RNH
    4. Hodgson leads the Sabres in scoring
    5. Turris out-points Spezza

    1. Wrong, but with the Anderson, Spezza and Karlsson injuries I don't feel too bad.

    2. Oh hells yeah. Islanders in the post-season!

    3. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

    4. He was second. Not quite right, but pretty effing close.

    5. Nailed it.

    Surprisingly good showing me thinks.

I told everyone Giroux was not a Top 5 pick and that much of his success could be attributed to Jagr. (Although I didn't expect him to hit point-per-game so he gets some credit).

    LOL.
This thread died... we are becoming a modest group.

I've got one I remember today.
I nailed my prediction on Tomas Vokoun's PIT starts: 17. BOOM.

I also hit on a prediction that people should invest in Eastern Conference skaters & Western Conference goalies.

And I think a lot of people had Voracek as a sleeper... but I went far enough to consider that he had James Neal like potential to break out for a 70-80pt pace and make Ovechkin/Voracek a better trade side to Giroux.

This one I didn't post, but last year, I traded Kevin Shattenkirk in my keeper pool and kept Markov because I thought Markov would get more points this year (I made the deal last May, when I still thought there would be a full NHL season) and I was going to go for the win. Sure enough, Markov finished with 30 points, and Shattenkirk 23.

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

This thread is quite a few pages shorter than the "I WAS WRONG" thread.

    Funny but predictable.

I think my only major hits were the Islanders making the playoffs, and Brendan Gallagher having a better season then Sven Baertschi.

I had a good inkling about Brendan Gallagher when I snagged him off waivers very early in the season.

Was also right about Mason revitalizing his career- didn't think he'd get traded though.

    Right about Sean Couturier

Right about the Oilers stinking it up

    Right about Jonas Brodin

Right about Zibanejad being better than Silfverberg

Right about Bishop begin traded for more than he was acquired for (2nd rounder).

Kinda right about Dougie Hamilton (soft defensively, healthy scratched for Redden).
