BTW, did some digging. Tim Tebow was speaking out against abortion. Specifically that his Mother nearly choose abortion. The fact she didn't, saved and preserved his life. That was (at least one of )his message. Does not fit here, but your comment that he had no message as he was just religious didn't sit well with me.
Anyway, just passing that on.
I'll be honest. I wasn't aware of the Castro shirt. So I googled it. It appears he wore a shirt with a picture of a meeting in Harlem that features both Castro and Malcolm X. Apparently they meet in the early 60s to chat about racial oppression in the US and Cuba.
I've read a few articles from people who are offended because Castro was a douche with a long history of human rights abuses. And one article that ended with, "The fact that Kapernick decided to wear a shirt of these two seemingly different leaders coming together and admiring each other's work toward racial equality is super symbolic and inspiring."
I learned something today that I otherwise would not have known....
Yea actually, he donated 1 million to community organizations.

The Niners wanted a 2nd round pick (which was at the end of the round since they were SB champs) so more like an early 3rd, but the Broncos wouldn't go higher than their 3rd (96th overall). Broncos were also trying to re-structure Kap's contract so that they could fit him into the cap because they knew they were going to be handing over a ton of $$ in re-signing Von Miller. Kap wouldn't agree to restructure.
Also his contract isn't bad Axeman, as long as he's healthy at the end of the season they can cut him and absorb very little dead money (only signing bonus money) if he's on the roster come April 1 of whatever year that's when his contract becomes fully guaranteed for the upcoming season. I think they want to see how he does with Kelly before they finally cut ties with him.
Him being injured and missing a bunch of practice in the offseason than sitting out two pre-season games has really put him behind in Kelly's system, and Kelly has mentioned he's still getting back to his full game shape and strength etc. However, if Gabbert continues to fail to push the ball down the field to stretch the D, you'll see Kap in a game by week 6 at the latest. If he flops, they'll bench him and move on.

Still think he's a "donkey" HB21? He's doing his best to actually effect change.
I think it's commendable.
I really couldn’t care less if someone stands or sits to the anthem. It’s not like this is new, Delgado even did it with the Jays over some war in the Dominican I think? It’s a solid way to get your message across.
He’s done a stand up job tho answering all the questions, he explained his side, he isn’t stepping down from his stance, and he’s actually doing something for the community with his stand. The wade, lebron, melo, paul speech before the ESPYS did raise awareness, but after that it didn’t do much else. Kaep is at least raising awareness and donating to charities with the money he’s made off the stance.
All for what he’s doing, just as long as someone doesn’t do it and the stance was for like a better contract, or something small like a bill being based for you need to keep your grass cut under 1” at all times.

Sure do Mr. rataylor. For all the reasons I stated earlier.
Demonstrating Gross Disrespect for the Policy as a whole with the ridiculous sock stunt does not garner any respect from me. Especially after reading the open letter Axe linked here from the law enforcement officer which was a very nice grounding message. A message he doesn't have to answer to.
Sure... he's doing what he thinks is necessary to "invoke positive change" in society, but if he were to do so with a little more class, perhaps then he would get a little more support.
Instead throwing up a big "F U" to police, maybe reaching out and working WITH police to achieve a common goal would garner more positive attention.
Donald Trump donates millions to charity every year to help change. I still don't expect many immigrants, especially those with Mexican decent to trip over themselves in support of that guy.
But I'm sounding like a broken record here. And I'm tired of hearing about this guy. Too bad. Because the cause he's fighting for is a noble one, yet his judgement/lapse there of has created levels of controversy that didn't need to exist IMO.

BINGO!
It's interesting, how your original post was all about him not standing for the anthem, and yet all you can be is singularly focused on his socks because he's stood up and been accountable and respectful on the anthem front the entire time. He's even explained the socks, but you're grasping at straws of finding a reason to hate the actions.
As for doing it with class to garner more support, I'm not actually sure what you're referring to. He was sitting before the media drew attention to it, so from the start he was never doing it just for attention. Once people started to notice, he explained himself calmly and rationally. He consulted with military to learn that taking a knee instead of sitting is a gesture the military actually finds more respectful than standing to them specifically. In the face of losing his job and widespread criticism, he didn't back down from his beliefs. He's been open an honest through the entire process, and committed time and money to the cause.
As for the support thing, at this point, you're in the minority here man. His team supports him. His teammates support him. Other teams and players support him. The general american population, as a whole, are more on his side and support him than not. So on the support front, the "we don't support him" crowd is in the minority.
I hate how this will be talked about all damn season long...Again mentioning it last night in the CAR/DEN game. And you know it will be brought up on a broadcasts as soon as the anthem is played. Wish these commentators could find something better to talk about. Like the football game itself.
Kaepernick sucks so he might as well do something to stay relevant. There's nothing more to it than that IMO. I don't remember him taking a knee during the National Anthem when he started in the Super Bowl, that's for sure. As a person, he always seemed like a giant douche. Despite his obvious yearn for attention, I do think what he's doing as a whole is positive, and I think it's stupid that people get annoyed by it.
