Correct. But that goes the other way. If Tampa trades for Hamhuis, then Hamhuis can't play for Tampa in the playoffs. That's why you don't see a lot of trades after today.

If I heard correctly on TSN they said Drouin can still be traded after the deadline but he wouldn't be added to the play-off roster? Is that right?

You've heard it here first, Drouin will never be traded and Yzerman will wait for Drouin to come crawling back to the Lightning BEGGING for his job back.

Both sides played it poorly. If TB does not go way deep in the playoffs and Stamkos walks away, Yzerman will and should be criticized a ton. Drouin should have been playing with Stamkos all season and would have been fine IMO.

While I agree that Drouin's camp hasn't handled this the best, Yzerman may have just missed a golden opportunity to improve his club heading into the playoffs without having to subtract a major piece from his NHL club.

Both sides are dropping the ball here IMO.

My guess is that Yzerman would have traded him if he received an offer that improved his team. I'm also guessing that offer didn't happen, which is why he's still a Bolt. I'd be very surprised if Yzerman didn't listen to offers or try to negotiate deals. Not sure what else Yzerman could do.

I'd like to know what was really going on over the past few days. Was there a lot of interest/offers, or was that a lot of b.s.? Did Yzerman really intend to move Drouin at the deadline, or was he just saying that?

I wonder if there was a poison pill in the deal, such as "if you want Drouin, you also have to take Carle".

My guess is a lot of teams that are interested didn't want to trade their first rounders until they know where it is. Ie- Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, etc. Especially with the way the lottery system has been changed this season where three teams can win the lottery, it doesn't make sense for those teams to trade those picks yet. Big difference for those teams if they are choosing third or 10th.

Drouin sucks it up, apologizes and returns to work in the AHL. Its pretty obvious he isnt going anywhere now until the draft at least.

100% agree. This is the smartest play for Drouin. Publicly thank Yzerman for attempting to trade him. Inform everyone that he accepts Yzerman's invitation to go back to work. Then.... actually gets to work properly. If you can destroy the AHL, then you deserve a better shot at the NHL. End of. Happily ever after for all.

Kinda wondering how a player of his age and experience is going to fit into a locker room with teammates who he has (not very subtly) implied that he's too good to play with.
