what size league how many do you start how many do you keep
Okay folks, here's the deal:
I'm in a league that I very much am in rebuilding mode. I inherited a team that has some good parts, but mostly blows.
I've been offered the following deal and I wondered what y'all think about it. Would love some feedback.
Here's the categories:
G A +/-PIM PPP SHP GWG SOG W GAA SV% SHO
He gives me
Dubnyk
3rd rounder
Erixon/Ehrhoff (can't spell it)
I give up
Jonathan Bernier
theodore
10th round pick
My question to you is:
Do you see Bernier long term being better than Dubnyk?
Which would you take, Ehrhoff or Tim Erixon? I just can't tell which upside is bigger.
A fat rep your way if you can help me out! Thanks lads

I would prefer bernier.. I bet he gets moved and a starting gig.
12 Team, One year, Points only - G,A,PPG,SHG, no positional restrictions
2 points goalie W, 2 points goalie SHO, -.5 goalie loss, start 1 goalie per night
Hughes, Panarin, Connor, Konecny, Terry, Necas, Gaudreau, Schmaltz, Nichushkin, Zacha
Makar, Hedman, Andersson, DeAngelo
Gustavsson, Talbot
yeah i think i want to hold bernier given the above
dubynk is a strange one for me if i had him i would hold him to see what he could do (unless i got a no brainer offer) and if he was on the wire i would grab him and do the same (depending on league size)
he just isnt someone i am comfortable trading for unless i were on the cheap
i might risk a trade for him involving theo but i surely wouldnt put bernier in a trade for him
I like Dubnyk, but I do not think he is the answer in Edmonton (or anywhere else...). That being said, Bernier has the potential to be a solid number 1 goalie SOMEDAY (but when??)
Erhoff has his better years behind him, while Theodore could still give you solid numbers.
The 3rd round pick is a great upgrade for your 10th, but I feel that overall, this trade falls short.
I would gamble on Bernier and ride Theodore until Bernier is ready to take over the crease on a given team. Hopefully by then, Theo still holds some value (maybe get a pick or 2 for him).
If you are looking to rebuild, focus your efforts into landing a prospect that has little risk or avoid trading away yours.
Just my 2 cents

If you are rebuilding, I think Bernier is one piece you build around. Bernier becomes a FA after this season and I sense this might bring the situation to resolution. Dubnyk seems like a guy I would grab on the cheap, but not sure I would want to build my goalie corps around.
This is sort of a moot point since I would not recommend making this deal, but I think Ehrhoff has a higher upside than Erixon. Erixon is very solid in his own end and though he has some offensive skills may become more of a two-way or defensive guy than outright offensive d-man. Especially with guys like Moore, Murray, Savard, and others in CLB. In terms of upside I like Ehrhoff, but he does not exactly fit into a rebuilding plan.
With the number of goalies in play in your league, I have to think that a GM in the running for top dawg would be interested in Theodore, should one of his goalies go down to injury. At that point, I think you could fetch a decent pick straight up for Theodore.
I would pass on this trade.

I just don't like this trade for you. The swap of drafts is nice but IMO you are giving up the two best players in the deal. I think the guys have it on all the key points:
Dubnyk's future as the starter in Oil is very shaky. Expect a trade.
Bernier has long been regarded as one of the top prospect goalies. He will get his chance and unless most experts are wrong, he will have a hell of a career. Dubnyk does not equal Bernier.
IMO, Ehrhoff is significanlty more valuable than Eriksson. Not close. Number one PP versus a 3/4 D man. Not!
Theordore remains a valuable asset as a trade commodity. Why give that up?
So, a few things to consider, but I think the majority agree, this is not a good deal for you.

Thanks for the input guys, I declined the offer but inquired as to if he'd do Dubnyk for Theo straight up. We shall see!
Getting Dubnyk for Theodore would be a great get.
gotta agree with all of the above. goalies with potential like bernier are hard to come by. btw ehrhoff IS the correct spelling..
