Did not look like a comfortable landing.
I am just getting home and turned on the Nashville/St. Louis game. 2nd period intermission and they showed Fiala getting taken into the boards. It looked to me like his femur snapped. Ron Maclean said they weren't going to show the after-effects as everyone saw it, but I didn't. Thy showed him being taken off via stretcher.
Why is nobody talking about this and what happened?

Yeah it looked like his femur snapped there. A pretty gruesome injury, and definitely not an easy one to come back from. Heard he's in stable condition now. Hopefully he takes his time to have it heal right and get back to full strength.
Tough that it happens just as he was starting to come into his own, and it's likely going to take him a while to get back to full speed.
Most importantly though wishing him a speedy and full recovery.

...so a lower body injury, listed as day-to-day?

Thanks for the video and that is 100% a broken femur. The biggest and strongest bone in the human body.

This is awful. Gruesome injury, hurts this fun Preds team and derails a popular breakout candidate for next season.
A broken femur is certainly one of the worst injuries somebody could receive. A badly broken femur is actually potentially life threatening. Sadly, because of the speed of the game, and the end boards, it happens more often in hockey than just about any other sport. It is the biggest reason I believe the NHL made the right step moving to hybrid icing, although I would prefer no touch icing altogether.
I am hoping for a speedy recovery for Fiala. It is a scary incident and one that happens too often in the NHL.

Fingers crossed for a full recovery as he was becoming an interesting prospect and looked to be reaching the potential that was touted originally
Experience is the teacher of all things.
But there is a different bone that is the only bone in the the body that cannot be broken... ahh, the things you learn being married to a nurse.
Just like Joe Thornton was, and then he played...if a guy can play with a Torn MCL and ACL (I was on crutches for a month when I tore mine)....
I agree, I hope for full recovery cause he was going to be a young exciting player to watch. I wonder if this injury and recovery will allow for Nashville to leave him unprotected and not lose him to Las Vegas. I suspect we will not hear much about how his recovery is going.... everything will be hush hush to try throwing LV off.

So being an NHL player I assume he'll be back next game with some cortisone shots right?
