Wow... $8m.
Talk about a guy that parlayed some perfect timing (that playoff run).
I'm not a big fan of the deal as I see RyJo as a guy that can dog it... and curious to see how he plays now that he's secured this contract.
Going rate on new top six forward contracts is about 8pts per $1m... and he does pace for about 64pts.
(McDavid scores 100pts for $12.5m = 8pts per $1m, as well)

His shot rate and goals are down since going to NSH, but I still love this kid. One of my favorite NHLers for sure.
As I said back in that other thread, he's still the top center in Nashville and would get this easily (annual money wise) if he were a true free agent.

It's definitely an overpay.
I don't really see the argument that would say he is a better player than Barkov, Mackinnon, Schiefele, Monahan, that range etc. I think that is how he should be paid. I feel the same way about Kuznetsov, who I think was overpaid, and Draisatl, who I think will be overpaid.

I think it is a tad too much, but by like $1M-$1.5M, but he had the leverage as the only top 6 C they have haha.
As long as Poile continues to keep good young players for cheap long term deals and stops the random UFA overpayments, NSH will be very good for a long time!

it's a tad much but they paid a big price to get him and value a #1 C and didn't want him to walk. can't really blame this big signing. still think he has it in him to go back to his 30+ goal ways.

Pretty good deal for a first line C.
This deal will be a steal in 4-5 years.
