What basis would you have to think that Lehtonen will magically stop getting hurt all the time? It's been one injury after another, and expecting too much will lose people their hockey pools.
40 starts, 18-20 wins.
How do people project him on Dallas (assuming he's re-signed as an RFA). Does he stay healthy? Is he their clear #1? What do you see him signing for?

Picking up injured players is high risk/high reward.
I placed second this year to a guy who had Havlat, Connolly, Semin and Bergeron on his team.
Total games missed between those 4 this season?
- 36
Total games missed between those 4 last season?
- 73
Total games missed between those 4 the season before that?
- 172
Sometimes it works to gamble on guys like this in order to win. I'm in the camp that says stay away from them - sure it might end up in a loss here and there, but more often than not, the Havlat, Connolly, Semin, and Bergeron owner is going to end up in the middle of the pack at bestt as he scrambles to find replacements due to a groin/head/shoulder/ankle injury at some point.
And on that note I didn't actually answer the question!
Hard to say how he will end up to be honest. 40-45 starts seems to be the realistic and safe way to go. More then that would be a big bonus.
The Stars are reportedly very close to a 3 year extension worth 3.5/year, so they obviously feel comfortable with him as their starter and I would take that as a hopeful sign.
He's an excellent goalie when healthy though.
My entire next year revolves around him being effective and healthy haha.
15 Team Keeper (Y Roto Points, Daily Changes but only one waiver pick up per month)
20 Players (Keep 10) Dress 8 F, 5 D, 1 Utility and 2 G
Stats: G, A, P, PPP, Shots, SHP, Hits, PIM, +/- W, GAA, SV%, Saves, SO
Forwards Huberdeau, Svechnikov, Monahan, Cirelli, Suzuki, Backlund, Atkinson, J. Anderson, Hyman, Hayton, Dach & Byfield
Defensemen
Rielly, Ekblad, Yandle, Giordano, Ekholm & Hanifin
Goalies
Markstrom & Koskinen
historically he has started about 50% of his available games...that's not very good considering guys like Brodeur or Lundy start 90% +
If he plays he'll post a decent S%, a few shutouts and a lame GAA and probably get you 20 wins if I had to guess
I'm not joining this parade. I say he bounces back huge. He looked to be improving as the season closed out last year in Dallas. Bolland (with the same back issues) has looked very feisty and competitive during this series with the Sedins. As for the groin??? Lord have mercy.

Unfortunately there's a big difference between those injuries on a skater and on a goalie. Both use their bodies differently. He's had conditioning problems and hasn't been the same since playing 68 games in 06-07.
Not trying to put your thoughts down, but Bolland also just had a 39 game season.
Lehtonen is solid when he plays, but the past issues hurt his durability. Dallas would be better suited to find him a good backup and platoon for the season. He would be less of a IR risk...

I dealt him 2 years ago for Doan and haven't looked back since, too much of a headache

great responses guys...my G situation isn't great, but I was able to pick him up and hope he "platoons" in. I would be happy if I can get his standard 46 starts. Basically he's young and will be a sort of stop gap for me as my younger G's hopefully develop..
Pssst - hey Roenick27 - if you grabbed him off FA then you stole him. I like his chances going forward - a lot. Few agree with me - we shall see.
I don't think anyone denies his talent. I think the problem most people have is that it's the workhorses that make the difference in fantasy hockey. Meanwhile Lehtonen mostly performs like a top backup as far as numbers go.
But then again, Connolly and Gaborik just had mostly healthy seasons. Anything can happen.
