So, between my kid (90%), myself (9%), and my wife (1%)... my family has watched 1855 episodes or movies on Netflix Instant this year.
Holy cow.
That's 5 episodes/movies per day.
At $8/month... $100/year... that's roughly 5 cents per movie/episode.
Pretty effin great.
Mind you... most of this is my kid watching a 22min episode of Dora or Diego or Backyardigans... but still.
Talk about something that pays for itself.

I don't know... OK, I guess.
I watched in around November. It was out in the 90s... I remember catching a couple episodes of the mini-series on network (ABC?) television.
It's strange because Rob Lowe is in it as a mute.
And the guy that played (oddly enough) Dobber-from-Coach is in it.
And that one girl that was the 80s hit-girl was in it... ah, what's her name... Pretty in Pink/Sixteen Candles girl.
The villainous crew is really tame in the mini-series. It's like, damn - can't you be meaner?
My wife had just finished reading The Stand on her Kindle (which she gave a 10/10, 5/5 stars to).
We watched 10minutes together and she said she didn't want to watch it all. But I did.
She said it was one of her favourite stories to read of all-time, I think.
Long story short... 2.5/5 (the mini-series).
Good story, pretty crappy acting... and certainly they left a bunch out due to time restraints.
You know the story with King mini-series on TV... never as good as the book.
Good analysis. I enjoyed the series, more for entertainment value and the story rather than in comparison with the book. Yeah there was some bad acting, including Molly Ringwald (that's who you mean) who was a lot more whiny in the film than her character in the book. Also, the main girl who ends with Flagg (Nadine) is the same character in the book but with a different role. There was another character who played Nadine's part in the book - can't remember her name - that was not in the film. Yep, tons were omitted even though it was a six hour film.
The book itself is one of my favourites. A classic. And I believe it's one of King's favourites as well.

Wow that is impressive! I imagine it's the US Netflix huh?
I assumed it had to be - the glaring giveaway for me is I'm pretty sure I don't get the league, g-dammit!
You can get US Netflix using a VPN service - I only have Canadian Netflix account, but getting US shows.
I am presently in Australia and have tried HideMyAss, VPNauthority, and Unblock-US.
I found the true VPN services very slow (1 mbps vs 10-15 mbps) maybe cuz I'm in Australia and its linking to US servers but Unblock-us works well (no speed difference) and it's easy just to change DNS settings on laptop/iPad or router.

Highly recommended. $5 per month or $50 per year. Can do a 7 day trial.
Pretty cheap for less than $15 per month ($8 Netflix, $5 unblockUS) can watch a ton of shows/movies. In addition to The League, also can get Espns 30 for 30 series on there too.
One things is my wife mainly watches it so the recommendations I get based on her viewing (gossip girl, Jane by design, revenge, vampire diaries) can be embarrassing.

Interesting take. I've seen the TV movie multiple times and actually quite like it all things considered. The gruesome factor can never be that high because it's for tv but it was actually fairly accurate to the book aside from a few bits (particularly the parts Horrorfan mentioned) but I enjoy it every time I watch it (and watching a movie more than once is a massive sign that I like it - I rarely do that). It also has Gary Sinise in the movie, who I like.
Molly Ringwald was atrocious though.
I'm afraid to even look at my Netflix history. I don't watch Netflix much but we had a tenant here who watched lots, plus my wife and 2 kids. Not sure if we would rival your numbers or not though!
