    Default Who to draft

I have the 4th et 7th pick in a 24 team hockey league. The thing is that I don\'t need a Dman (alreadyhave JJ, Ryan Suter, Ty Wishart, Kevin Shattenkirk, Taylor Chorney, T.J. Brennan, Kris Russell, Brendan Smith, Alex Goligoski, Brendan Mikkleson, Jonathan Ericsson, Mark Stuart in the system). Who should I take?

I\'ve thought about Filatov, Hodgson and Boedker, but taking Boedker at 7 is a reach IMO...

Are you taking Filatov at 4? Who else is available that would be worthy of the 7th pick?

It\'s the 2008 elegible players and that\'s about it. There\'s also overagers like Tyler Ruegsegger, Wayne Simmonds, Josh Godfrey, Jan Mursak, Patrick Maroon, but I\'ll wait till the 2nd round.

And yes, I would take Filatov at 4th if still available.

if it is guys getting drafted this year, it would not be a horrible idea to simply follow the NHL draft. filatov, Beach, and Boedeker are all going to be selected in the top 10.

I personally do not see Filatov as that big of a risk at 4 if you are avioding D.

The real issue you are facing is that Stamkos is really the only forward expected to be taken in the top 6 (according to Matt Bugg\'s projections).

You may be better off trying to trade you selections for the #1 if you really just want a forward that bad, or trade them for future picks (next year might be better for forwards), or deal for a forward taken last year.

You might consider trading some of your existing D for some forwards, and pick some of the stud defensemen coming up in the 2008 draft. Aside from Stamkos and Filatov, this is clearly a draft year with some very high potential defensemen.

Go with Filatov at 4, and if Boedker is still around at 7, you\'ve got it made.

This is the route I would also try going if you are really that set at D.
