    Default Trade Weber for Carter?

For the team in my signature.
I need your help on this one. Forward for dman swaps are tough to evaluate.
He's offering me Jeff Carter strait up for my Shea Weber.
Weber is my #1 dman, but I have a good top 4 after him (when Whitney comes back).
Let's say, for now, I.White would take Weber's spot. I see a loss of about 15 points and some depth in my defense.
Carter would be my #4 or #5 forward bumping a 55 points guy out of my top 9.
I don't need more depth at forward, but if he clicks well with Nash in Columbus, he could hit 80 points and give me an egde in points. Could he?
    This is the point.
How high do you value Weber? Will he be trade (or sign next summer) to a contender and become a top keeper at D (55 to 60 points)?
How high do you value Carter? Will he become the 80 points guy we all waiting for or will he be another 70 points player who never reaches his upside?
I prefer an 80 points forward over a 50 points dman.
But I also prefer a 60 points dman over a 70 points forward.
What do you see for these two?
Would you part with Weber to get Carter?
    Thank you for your advice.

I just offered this same deal (I have Weber) and was turned down. I offered it because I have Keith, Hedman, Johnson to pick up the slack. I think your forward depth is good enough to hold off on making this move. I don't foresee a fantastic season from Weber though... I feel like his contract, and the contracts of his buddies are going to distract from the prize.

I was offered this trade last year (his Weber for my Carter) and I said no. I valued Carter a lot more than I do Weber. I think Carter is worth more fantasy wise. Weber is a guy you want to build your team around in real life but not in fantasy hockey. Carter has a better chance at hiting 80pts than Weber hitting 60pts. I would make this deal.

Dman vs forwards are sways tricky. Even harder in a points only league. I'd probably say you wouldn't get more for weber straight up than Carter a potential 80 point guy like you said. So in that thought it would make sense to do this trade.

BUT then the other thought that weber is a top 5 dman while Carter is top 15 maybe top 20 in points only. So you lose value there.

My suggestion is to try to build the trade into a 2:2 or something where you can get another Piece or 2 that you like.

In a points only league only league i would do this. I think weber has more value in leagues where they have extended stats. I think carter could explode one of these years. I would try to swing a deal like newper said though and make it a 2 for 2 so u get a dman back

    Thanks guys.
This gm (the one offering Carter) drafted B.McCabe thinking he was signed by NYR. He was pissed off when we all laugh at him saying he was still UFA. I probably could grab him as a throw in in this deal. Do you think he will sign somewhere this year?
If he does, he would make a nice depth dman in case of need. If he doesn't, he would become the crap I will drop when I'll want to use a FA pickup.

I'll wait a bit to see if someone else has something to say about the trade or about McCabe and I'll probably accept the deal. You guys conviced me. Thank you.

I think I would do this deal as is. You win it. Want to get greedy and get more - well that's fine but I wouldn't want to lose the deal because of it.

Should have listen to the Demi-God.
Now he wants one of Paajarvi or Brouwer.
No way I add a player for a guy without a contract.
I asked him for Babchuk instead of McCabe if he wants one of my players.
Can you tell me about Paajarvi and/or Brouwer?
All that I know is that Paajarvi is one of the youngsters in EDM and that Brouwer should/could be on a line with Ovechkin and Backstrom.
