Trade vetoed -follow-up

I was offered and accepted his S. Mason and Erhoff for my Brodeur. It was vetoed.

I complained on the league's comment boards, and received this response from one person:

"i only vetoed it because i was trying to make a trade with [owner's name] for a goalie and i hoped this trade would be vetoed so that i could trade him one of my goalies."

I responded:

"A trade subject to veto is a deal done. You don't try to undo it so that you can get a better deal. So far, there is no legitimate basis to veto this deal."

Comments please. I would like to post them on the league board.

Agree, the veto is crap but those random free leagues are full of guys who join, then stop trying a few weeks in. I'd get yourself into a league with guys you know or even just join one through these boards as the guys tend to be a bit more reliable.

I wouldn't bother with a league like that for very long. No sense in getting pissed off over something you do for fun.

Is this league set up so that one manager on his own can veto a trade?

Regardless, this sounds like a league that is going nowhere fast (even if this veto gets overruled). I would quit now before you end up with more frustration. There are dozens of other leagues you can join with random managers if you are looking to play in more leagues.

I would reinforce the suggestion to look for leagues through these boards.

A veto can only be initiated if there is no value exchanged or there is collusion. On this trade the answer is no to both.

BS move by the other GM, ridiculous.

There are people in our world that don't understand how/what a "veto" is... and when/why they should be using it.

Make your best efforts to ask/educate the commish to properly explain the use of veto to your leaguemates. Be polite.

It's a terrible veto - $hit like this will happen until the end of time in fantasy leagues.

I have played many yahoo leagues, same shit happens every year. Only half of the teams keep playing after the 1st month. When i did join a public league, i'd wait until a week be4 the season started, more gm's will play the year out. When ever i joined as soon as yahoo opened the draft, i found alot quit because they didnt like their team.

I wouldnt quit that league, play it out & do your best. If you quit then you are no different than what i stated above. If you notice the league isnt to active, then quit. If all seem to be very active, u will enjoy the season.

Im sure we all seen a trade be4 and said, I should veto it, or at least thought i want that player and would offered him more

Tell this joker that he's a tool. Seriously, that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard said in a fantasy hockey league. Serious abuse of the 'veto vote' and exhibit A of why a majority rule for veto doesn't work.

I have some buddies that do a fantasy basketball league and I remember there was one trade that two of my friends made...and one of them decided after the trade that he wanted to trade back and convinced more than half the league to veto because he accidentally accepted the deal and never meant to. Bush league.

I agree with the rest of the folks that you should find a better league to play in...there's plenty of leagues you can join that people post up here for free and the competition will definitely be better and you'll have less headaches.

since you joined this league for fun you have to ask yourself 'will this league be fun after what you have already learned?'.

I know nobody likes to quit a league but i think thats the prudent choice here. If you are already frustrated at this point and the first puck hasnt even dropped how frustrated will you be 6 months into the season. A worse decision you can make than quitting now is to stick it out and then become so frustrated that you give up on the league and dont really participate in it.

Leaving the league now still gives them time to replace you. If you know you arent going to have fun in this league whats the point?
