Not sure what you're talking about or if this was a productive way to start a conversation, but I think that Murphy has significant upside. He has excellent offensive instincts and does the little things well to gain the zone, look off defenders and goaltenders, dodge checks, etc. His +/- may kill that value in some leagues (a shutdown defenseman he is not...), but plenty of time to improve on that. He will have to improve his strength before he can cut it in the NHL, though. Even for a guy his size, two reps at 150 pounds is unacceptable.

I don't recall many people on this site trashing Ryan Murphy. Like TG said, just needs some time to get stronger and work on the flaws in his game. He has star potential no doubt about it. Same thing for Ellis applies to Murphy, pretty similar players but Ellis should be on the Predators in a year. Like Dobber, he is my favorite prospect coming out of the 2011 draft.

I almost forgot about Ellis... yeah, man was I excited by the rumored trade. I wonder if there was something in place if Hamilton wasn't available. Ellis is one of my favorite fantasy prospects on the blue line, but Hamilton's probably a better fit for the Bruins-Neely-Chiarelli mould.

I like Murphy quite a bit. I think the Canes got a great pick with Murphy.

DM how did you end up with 4 sick centers in Stamkos, Malkin, Zetterberg, and Tavares plus Parise at LW yet actively choose to carry only Pavelski and Okposo on RW despite that glut of elite C who can easily land you something very high-end? Unless Malkin is an RW but just listed as C in your sig then I don't really follow your approach with that. Why not do Tavares for Pat Kane or something like that with all that C depth and no RW depth?
