if I were them, I would go with Budaj and Elliot... guarantee them a chance at Nail... They could out Oiler the Edmonton Oilers
Any educated guesses as to what the Avs do about their starting goalie situation? Neither Elliott nor Budaj is a legit starter. Pickard is too young and probably 2-3 years away. Do they go the distance with Elliott and Budaj? Or do they try to acquire a free agent? I don't see either of the two big names, Bryzgalov or Vokoun, signing there.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

I think the Avs will ride it out with Elliot/Budaj for another season.
Cheers.
Edit: haha....looks like Golfguy and I were on the same wave.......cheers.
I don't think they'll be going after a free agent. They'll likely stick with Elliott and Budaj for the time being, and if they can't hold down the fort they will try to trade for one of Schneider, Bernier or Lindback.
I read somewhere that the team was unlikely to sign Budaj to another contract. I'll try to dig out the link.

I might be late to the party, but does anyone out there share the same opinion as me regarding the Avs' decisions before the trade deadline this year?
Lost Anderson, Stewart and Shattenkirk...
Don't they almost have to make Elliott the #1 and play the heck out of EJ to try and convince folks that they didn't screw up?

I think first of all Philly is going to trade with the Islanders for Nabokov to mentor Bob. Next Philly is going to ship Leighton out to Colorado for a late round pick, basically to get rid of his 1.5 million cap hit. Colorado will also sign one of Emery, Harding, Dekanich, Desjardins, or Greiss to a 2-way deal to throw in the mix. Elliott is ensured a starter or back up role. Leighton gets his chance in camp to prove himself. Third signed guy starts off in Lake Erie but has a good chance of being called up and stealing the starters job. (Grahame and Bacashihua are both UFA's as well, Bacashihua gets resigned).
Schneider is the starter for Colorado next year.
Mark it down...
Unless a three-way trade goes down, I don't see that happening. VAN will want Schneider out East.
Its weird right. A buddy of mine started offering for Schneider from my team so i started sniffing around on all kinds of sites.
I can find absolutely nothing to confirm that Schneider goes to the Avalanche. But for some reason i cant stop thinking it lol.
I've heard a lot of blurbs and forum posts about them making a hard press for Vokoun... I could see it happening... they aren't that bad of a team. If they can get goaltending like they had with Anderson, they're a perennial playoff team.

Be interesting to see if they do make a move on a tender - I personally don't think they will. I heartily agree that they aren't that bad a team.
