Grabovski had a dandy of a shootout goal too. Worth watching for sure.
Studs
Mathieu Perreault - After dominating the AHL, the Capitals finally saw fit to call him up. He responded with two goals and a beauty feed to Semin in which he hit the post.
The Pittsburgh Penguins - Defeated the Devils 2-1 to extend their win streak even further. Fleury only allowed 1 GA and posted a solid .964 SV% and Crosby extended his point streak even further - he now has 9G, 2A, 11P in his past 5 games and is a +8 during that span with 4 PIM and 26 SOG.
The Toronto Maple Leafs - Despite trailing 4-1, they worked hard and came back to win the game in a shootout. Kaberle, MacArthur, Kulemin, and Grabovski (who also had the only shootout goal) all had 2 points on the night. Gustavsson also had some big shootout saves.
Duds
The Washington Capitals - After opening the 3rd period with a 4-1 lead, they went on to give up 3 goals, 2 of them in under a minute within only 2 and a half minutes left in the game. They completely fell apart, but good hard work by the Leafs.
Detroit Red Wings - Despite leading 2-1 at one point, they fell 5-2 to the Sharks. Howard had a .857 SV%, and Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Bertuzzi, and Kronwall combined for a horrific -13.
Mike Green - While I could have included him with the Washington Capitals, I feel he deserved his own dud spot. While he wasn't terrible tonight (+1, 2 PIM, 28 minutes of ice time), he has one point in his past 5 games. Yes, this is supposed to be the best offensive defenseman in the league.
