Default Turco signs in Chi town

So, Marty Turco has just signed a one year deal at 1.3 mil in Chicago... now who knows where Niemi will end up. Maybe the arbitrator award will hurt his value now. I think Turco will fit in nicely with Chicago, should be an interesting season for the vet.

I agree, many are down on Turco, but as a Turco owner I was following him more closely last year than others. Not at all mesmerized by his poor won-loss record.

    Last year, Turco's save percentage -- my preferred goalie stat -- was better than Niemi's, Rinne's, Varlamov's, Quick's, Fleury's and Backstrom's.

I'm not buying the Turco hate. Think the move to Chicago will agree with him. He'll have a good year. Turco was on a terrible Dallas team and had several shootout losses. In Chicago, he will lower his GAA and get more wins. Buy-low time is over.

Hard to comment objectively because I am a Turco owner. Can tell you I am pretty much dancing a jig though.

This, in my opinion, was the only place he could go and be successful. Not Philly or anywhere else. I like the idea of him in Chi-town. They have a solid d-core and some defensively responsible wingers to help make him beter. (and in some cases, just make him LOOK better)

This is going to work out for both parties.

All of a sudden I have a glut of fantasy worthy goalies. Who do I give up now: Niitty or Turco? I've gotta drop one of them.

I think this was a great fit for Turco and CHI. He's going to have a 30-35wins season easily. $2.75Mil for Antti is way to much. He might not even have a team when the season starts...

So if Turco isn't a good fit in Chicago, is Crawford worth keeping an eye on/stashing away? or is there someone else in the system?

I think Crawford can be very good to own this year as a 3rd-4th goalie on your team. He should have some good stats playing in front of a good defence. Turco only sign a 1 year deal so we can assume that there will be a good chance that Crawford could be the starter in 2011-2012.

He would be great to have stashed away in a keeper pool. Now is the time to grab him cause once the season starts if Turco starts to play bad and Crawford sees a few starts someone will grab him off waivers and his price tag will be alot higher then a waiver pickup.

Crawford, I believe, is next in line if Turco falters.

Turco's inconsistency + Chicago in general = Safe guy to own in a keeper league.
