What to do with goaltenders...Justin HELP!!!

Hey Justin,

15 team keeper with $80 salary cap. 4C, 4RW, 4LW, 6D, 2G. The goalie cats are GAA, SV%. I have Brodeur $10.20, Price $4.00, and Neuvirth $3.00. I know we have all been waiting for Brodeur to drop off for a number of years, but with the additions on defense, he may still out up the numbers. That being said, I would have much more money to spend at our yearly auction draft to fill out my roster if I didn't protect him. I guess my question is what do recommend?

Your stats are interesting. It's a keeper league that only deals with GAA and save % ??? So wins and minutes and games played don't count for anything. In that regard, $10+ for Brodeur seems like an awful lot to spend.

Brodeur was 3rd in GAA, but he was 13th in save percentage. At that level, he's not worth $10.40 out of $80.

Let me know what other goalies might be available so I can further help you out. But to be honest I think you can head into the draft with Brodeur unprotected and find better bang for your buck.

There is a minimum 4000 minutes of playing time required between your two goaltenders, with your backup making up at least 25% of it, but there are no points awarded for it, as it's meant only as a requirement, so that the GMs remain active.

It's tough to say who will be available until the protection rosters are submitted on Labour day, but the following could be there...

There looks to be as many as 7 or 8 teams that will be in need of a goalie, if that helps. I
agree that Brodeur is no longer worth the amount of money he costs me, so would you not protect Price and Neuvirth? I realize Price is a risk, but have little doubt that he is the man in MTL, and Neuvirth really impressed me in his march to the Calder Cup, and given Varlamov"s potential for injury, could surprise behind a strong Caps team as well. Thoughts?
