Patrik Elias (concussion) is feeling much better but has not been cleared to resume physical activity.

He should be considered out indefinitely for the time being.

Elias (concussion) has shown no symptoms from his recent concussion and has begun working out off-ice, according to the Bergen Record. This is good news for the Devils, who have been struggling offensively. Look for Elias to return before the Olympics.

Martin is already back on the ice and forward Patrik Elias might be ready to join him as soon as Sunday. Elias, who has been sidelined for two weeks with a concussion, has been working out off the ice and might be cleared medically Sunday to begin skating on his own.

A report on Elias’ Web site today said, “After a successful series of tests, Patrik has been cleared to begin practicing individually.” Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said that wasn’t true, yet. “We’ll know more in the next 24 hours,” he said.

Patrik Elias, who suffered a concussion when he was knocked unconscious by a hit from Ryan Wilson in Colorado Jan. 16, is skating and should rejoin the Devils soon for practice. It appears likely he will be able to play games before the Olympics.

The Devils got a day off on Wednesday and will return to the ice for practice Thursday. It is possible that Patrik Elias, sidelined since suffering a concussion in Denver on Jan. 16, will practice with the team.

"We'll see tomorrow whether he skates with the team or not," Lamoriello said. "It's a day-to-day thing."

Lamoriello said Elias is past the concussion problems he had after being knocked unconscious by a hit from Ryan Wilson of the Avalanche.

"Everything is in the past. It's just a matter of getting his legs," the GM said.

Patrik Elias joined his teammates for practice Thursday morning at the Prudential Center.

It was the veteran forward's first practice with the team since he was knocked unconscious by a hit from Ryan Wilson of the Avalanche on Jan. 16 in Denver.

Elias skated at right wing on a line with left winger Brian Rolston and center Dainius Zubrus. He has missed nine games.
