    Default Mikael Backlund

Whats up with Mikael? Is he going to have a shot to show his stuff at all this season? I thought a few cups of coffee should do him some good this year.

Whats the time frame for him to crack the club? cheers

I think the Yotes brought him up to fast. Shouldn't have played that much in the NHl.

I thought he was a Flames prospect?

He is a flames prospect, and he's tied for 5th in team scoring right now with 14 points in 28 games behind Chuko, Lundmark, Germyn, Colin Stuart, and Jason Jaffray. He's still only 20 years old and is a rookie in the AHL learning the north american game.

I'm sure he will get a couple short looks this year after a couple of injuries, but one has to think since Lundmark did so good on his last call up they're probably gonna call him up first again.

ya, lundmark and jaffray are likely to be called up before Backlund. a point every 2 games isn't spectacular stuff (Boyd did around PPG in his rookie AHL season) but maybe he's playing better than that.. i don't know.

unless we see injuries to either Jokinen or Langkow, and maybe both, i don't think we'll see Backlund this year.

This is definitely one of those guys you're gonna have to be patient with. Ergh. Hopefully it's worth the wait and I'm not wasting my friggin time.

I hear from a pretty good source that he's just having a little trouble adjusting to North America. Some 20 year olds have confidence to burn while others can be derailed a lot easier and it sounds like Backlund fits into this catagory. At 22 he'll be one of those guys who seems to come out of nowhere, because too many people will have dropped him. The talent is undeniable and the only thing holding Backlund back is Backlund. If you have the space pick him up while he's cheap.
