Defenseman to target?

I am the defending Champ in our points-based H2H keeper league (team in sig below).

A string of injuries/bad luck has seen my team lose six straight match-ups after a 3-0 start. So I am basically out of the running now, at least during the regular season.

We have a cascading keeper feature in our league, which is keeping things very competitive. I should be able to keep around 12 players going into next year, and I would like to carry over three defensemen. Green is a no-brainer, and I quite like Coburn for his future upside and the team he plays on. Timonen and Pronger are getting long in the tooth, and won't be the point-producing studs they are forever.

I would like to trade for a third young defneseman, and would like to know who I could reasonably target for the likes of Fleischmann and/or Michalek, plus one of my other defensemen like Corvo, Gilbert, Pitkanen or Russell.

One of the GMs has a weakness at wing and a glut of young up-and-coming defensmen such as Boyle, Goligoski, Keith, Letang, Niskanen, Del Zotto and Wideman. He's probably going to be able to keep only 2-3 of these guys, so I'm trying to target Letang or Keith.

Is this a reasonable proposition?

I have found that in long term keeper leagues the best you can hope for is that the "kid" has talent and ends up on a team where coach lets his skills produce points.

A good example of this would be the kid blueliners for the penguins, fantasy gold there. But if they are dealt (see Noah Welch, ryan whitney) they lose some of their luster. Letang and Goligoski can deliver the mail thats for sure.

I don't know how much the other guys values what you are offering.

In my league I targeted and am sitting on Kulikov, Del Zotto, Niskanen and Stralman (plus Niedermayer and Brian Campbell (acquired when he was a Sabre) as the keepers from last year)

I wish someone like you would step and offer me something for them

U might want to take that into consideration and take a shot at him.

Just traded Michalek and Pitkanen for Letang. I already have Ovechkin and Vanek at LW, with Paajarvi coming over next year, so this should upgrade one of my defense keepers significantly for 2010-11.

Now if only Gonchar moves on at the end of the season, it will be time for Goli and Letang to shine.
