Your point about his over ice time is a worry of mine also. Do you think that they just don't trust his defensive game enough to give him more even strength time?
I wouldn't worry about icetime, because Redden was absolutely horrible for parts of the game last night and Torts will not put up with that for long so icetime might be easier to get soon for Del Zotto.

Torts is just settling him in slowly. I have a theory he doesnt want Del Zotto's lack of defensive play to worry management and have them consider sending him down to junior, so for the first 9-10 games he won't play much even strength but still lots of PP, so his numbers will look very good and Torts can keep his favorite PP defenseman for the whole season!
If you're lacking some offense from your blueline on your fantasy team, I'd grab del zotto asap; before the hype grows even more.
