yes of course but I'm looking at this more about the personnel than the man behind the bench. NY is a dumpster fire as far as coaching, they never stick with one long enough anyways. Firing Gallant was a purely scapegoat move, at this point just promote Knoblauch because hiring likes of Laviolette is just lateral.

NY has a good team...Drury made a mistake of getting too many of same player with Kane and Senko when he had Panarin...im sure he will learn ....i would not change much other than let those 2 go...

very solid game 1, the 1-3-1 was played to damn near perfection, not allowing Ovechkin a single shot is good to see. No excuse not to dispatch this WSH squad in relatively short fashion for once with their suspect defense. Find it hilarious McIlrath is patrolling Caps blueline, truly one of the worst picks of all time by NYR lol.

Missing Jensen and Sandin is tough for an already weak blueline.

Time to explore trading Panarin alas it'll never happen with his NMC. When his deal expires after '25-'26 this team needs to recommit to a rebuild albeit a more "on the fly" scenario. Abandoning the plan to sign a then 27-year-old UFA star in Artemi didn't work, don't make the same mistake again. Laffy is the building block going forward. Kakko although I still believe, I would not be against him moving as part of package to bring in an established 24-29 year old player to potentially get this team over the hump here and now. Idk what it'll take honestly, a lot of the components are there but the powerplay reliance must seesaw back in the direction of even strength production.

K'Andre Miller needs to figure out what type of defender he ultimately is, a role player or a superstar. His decision making is suspect at times and needs improvement.

Lots of players on the wrong side of 30, would not be wrong to take the Seattle Seahawks GM route with Russell Wilson and sell high while you still potentially can.
