Reaves knees, Klingberg's hips... man... Treleving doesn't want this job for long. These are things he should have known. That's a failure on due diligence.
Guy Boucher is an assistant coach. he makes the most sense to replace Keefe - at least short term.
Keefe won't go before the AS break.
I'm not opposed to Berube. Blues loved him. Not quite RDA levels in Carolina, but close.
I don't think Keefe has lost the room, but his message is stale.
So is the defensive structure.
Hell, it's been horrid since 2002.
Last time this team had real team chemistry & culture was with Sundin, Roberts & Nieuwendyk

Sammy looking sharp tonight, keeping them in the game and making his case to be relevant once Woll comes back.
Leafs got lucky that Samsonov actually showed up because the rest of the team didn't. Looking at the stat sheet, you'd say this was a close game but really it wasn't. The shots they fired at Brossoit were far from challenging for the most part but the grade A chances Winnipeg had on Samsonov were crazy, and he stood tall. Winnipeg deserved to win this game, but so did Samsonov.

Shots against Sammy were either easy saves, or 10bellers. Nothing in between lol.
Leafs were awful until Keefe FINALLY benched the top guys. Finalllly. I would 100% split the top PP guys up and run a 2nd unit with like Nylander and Matthews on the whole 2min (pretty much). The issue with making a big change is they have little practice time in the near future.
They're off from Jan28-Feb5th. Then they play 12 games in 25 nights with a 4 road game trip (6 days) in there. They have like 5-8 days of practice probably between now and March. And then March is a jammed scheduled too.

---EDIT---
Bobby McMann to IR with an lingering injury. Kind of a comical use of IR at this point.

Matthews is 76 goals away from Sundin for most all time by a Leaf. He has currently played 449 fewer games than Sundin. At Matthews pace the last 198gp (3 seasons), he will get 76 goals in 104games (60goal pace). Even if he continues this pace this yr (72goals), he'll need 49goals. He'd get that by like March 2025. Which would be like 421goals in 612gp (0.688g/gp). Sundin had 420goals in 981gp (0.428g/gp) for the Leafs.
Matthews has a G/GP of 0.647 for his career. Ovechkin has a G/GP of 0.599 for his career. Gretzky had 0.601g/gp. Matthews is 550Goals behind Gretzky. He'll need 850gp at his current pace to get to that record. Or 11 more seasons.
Or if he goes 4 more years at his 0.744g/gp pace (last 250gp pace), that would put him at 588goals at 30yrs old. So 306goals behind the record. If he plays 6yrs after that, that's a pace of 51goals/season lol.
Holy Ovi and Gretzky goal record is nuts lol.

On pace for 76!
I can not believe that there is going to be 3 players with 130+ points, and a 70+ goal scorer (who's on pace for 110+points), and one of them won't even get nominated for the MVP.

Sounds like the Leafs are getting Marner back this week. Very curious what the lineup will be with Marner, then working Jarnkrok in as well.
Bertuzzi - AM - Domi
McMann - JT - Nylander
Knies - Holmberg - Marner
Dewar - Kampf - Reaves/Jarnkrok
Robertson - HS
It's unfair to think that Robertson 100% is the guy that comes out, but he's the guy I think. Let Marner run a 3rd line and PP1 to get him back, then see how this goes. You can also flip the lines to:
Bertuzzi - AM - Marner
JT - Domi - Nylander
Knies - Holmberg - McMann
If things don't go well. And you can always flip Domi/JT as center/wing.
