Oh Wow.... 6.5 for Hagel.
Tampa Bay really missed having Steve Y in that contract negotiation.

How many 30 goal scorers do you see signing for this type of money? Not many. Most these days are $7M+ at a starting point. Fair deal for both sides IMO. TB locks him up long term and Hagel gets the security. Plays in all situations and 2nd in the league last year in takeaways.
He's on the top line with Kucherov and Point, who are both signed for the next four seasons +. Like most contracts of this length, you have to wonder about the back end but for the foreseeable future, this is a good contract.

The only significant contract off the books next yr is Stamkos.
Right now, they have about $12.6m in cap space next yr to fill 5-6 spots (3D-2/3F).
Stamkos will be 34yrs old next yr. He's either retiring or re-signing with the team you'd assume. If he re-signs at $5m (pulls a bergeron), the team will have $7.6m to fill 5ish roster spots that are currently taken up by players who make sub $1m this yr.
With raises even involved across the league next yr, they should more than enough space to keep everyone around. The way it stands right now, Hagel will be the 3rd highest paid forward on the team next yr.

I like that contract for TBL. 2-way guy that scores goals.
31 TEAMS keep all multi-cat (lot of them) dynasty
Offensive stats : Goals, Assist , PPP, PPTOI, SOG...
Defensive stats : PKTOI, BLKS, TakeAway, Giveaway...
(basically best NHL player)
Seems like a lot...
But TB is supposed to have one of the best analytics guys in sports.
Between him & the GM - they know what Hagel provides.
People thought TB gave up too much back when they did... turns out... they may have gotten the better deal.
Wingers are normally where you cheap out so that you can pay your C, D, stud W's and in TB's case their G also.
We will see how this plays out
