He was a high prospect for Winnipeg at time, but what about now?

The upsides of all prospects tend to be somewhat inflated after they are drafted. Like most defensive prospects, their value goes through a bit of a market adjustment as a few years go by and they are still working towards earning a full time job in the NHL and I think this is very true of Heinola. He was drafted 20th overall in 2019 and I believe he has stayed on the development curve enough to warrant that 1st round pick. He is still a solid Prospect and likely remains first in line in terms of the Jets defensive prospects. However, we are not talking about an elite offensive defensemen here. He is good, like many others, and if the stars align he could be a .5 PPG 2nd pairing 2PP NHL defensemen in a few years, he is still only 21 and still has some road ahead of him before he arrives. He may have more, but that at the present time seems unlikely. In a 26 team keeper I would think Heinola does have some value.

I think he will have a short window of high value when Winnipeg inevitably unloads to rebuild and he doesn't have much competition. But that could be 2-3 years from now. If you already own him you should hold and sell high at that point, if you're thinking about acquiring him, don't unless your compete window is long term.
