I just went all-in looking for another title.
League in signature.
Currently in 3rd place and trying to defend my belt. Hit by huge injuries this year, but I don’t care about regular season, so some weekly losses don’t bother me. 8 teams make the playoffs and I’m in and gearing up for a run.
I traded the 1st overall in 2022 (previously acquired), Byfield and ERod (would be my drop) for Fox and a 5th in 2023. The picks are in our combined re-draft/prospect draft.
I need the D help and Fox just does a bit of everything and more. Byfield would’ve been a free keeper for me - as he will be under 83 GP, but oh well.
I’m happy. But did I pay too much? Obviously yes if I don’t win.
What do you think?
Don’t even ask about my 8 keepers. I have no idea. Haha. I can trade whoever isn’t in the offseason.

Would the 1st overall be the 2022 Prospect Draft, or would all players not kept be available?
Based on your roster and Kaprizov not being a keeper, the first overall would cost you (at minimum) a player like Kaprizov. Plus, acquiring Fox would mean one of your current keepers would have to be thrown back into the draft.
I get that this is a win now move, but I’m not a huge fan of the deal based on what you’re giving up.

The 1st overall will be the best player not kept or Shane Wright, yes.
The last 4 years of 1st overalls went like this Jamie Benn, Jack Hughes, Lafreniere and Lindholm respectively.
And I will 100% be keeping Kaprizov. My bolded keepers in my signature were keepers to start this season. Kaprizov was still minors eligible for me last keeper deadline.

Just be prepared for Fox regression. His IPPs are unsustainably high versus other top scoring d-men. That having been said, he's in a great situation and his "spot" is unchallenged, so maybe this means he's more like a 70 point d-man rather than what we've seen thus far.

I’ve rep’d all I could. Any other thoughts? I’m the Commish of the league and as stupid as it sounds, I use these opinions in case anyone ever wants to question a trade I make.

I think the deal is fine. It's win now, because well you want to win now.
If others complain, for a team looking at the future it's Byfield + 1st overall + a guy who is semi-useful this year. that should be 2 premium assets. Make sure not to try and get the pick or Byfield back from him in the offseason.

I like the trade for you, helps you win now for sure and as mentioned, you can always trade away guys you can’t keep in the off-season to recoup picks.
