Ozhiganov is making the right call. I think he has something to offer in the NHL but he has better opportunities back home.

From @kevin_mcgran on twitter yesterday:
Hearing the Leafs/Marlies are adding a Russian on Wednesday. Who? Can’t say for sure, unfortunately. Leafs can be tight-lipped when they want to be. The one thing, that Russian is already in Toronto.
Could be RW Yegor Korshkov (31st overall, 2016), a 6-4 22-year-old who fits the bill of a “big guy” that’s coming that Mike Babcock telegraphed after Game 7. He played just 19 games for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv due to injury.
Could be that other Russian, F Ilya Mikheyev, a free agent leaning either towards TML or VGK. 23 goals for Omsk Avangard. Let’s hope for all the hype around Mikheyev (6-2) wherever he lands, he fits somewhere between Artemi Panarin and Par Lindholm on the Rus-Euro UFA scale.
Yep, your right. Korshkov signed a 2 year entry level contract.
I love how Mikheyev is "somewhere between Panarin and Lindholm" when he's nowhere near Panarin so we can throw that out the window.

Egor Korshkov:
- signed 2yr deal, also signed a PTO with the Marlies and will join them for the Calder run
- 22yrs old (turns 23 in July)
- Scored 65pts in 172KHL games
- 2016 he got the Silver medal at the jrs, finishing with 2G, 6A in 7 games.
- 31st overall is the highest the Leafs have drafted a Russian born player.
- Same scout that tipped them about Soshnikov, tipped them about this guy
- 6'4", 180-ish lbs right winger who shoots left
- Never got serious minutes and battled injuries that limited his production.

That's the biggest thing right there. His first couple KHL years his TOI was under 10/gm.
Only his last season did he see decent TOI & then he went down. He's better offensively than those KHL #'s demonstrate.
I'm really interested to see how he does with the Marlies jumping into the intensity of the playoffs

Was he held back while deserving to play more or is there a valid reason why he didn't get more minutes?

I will be the first to admit I don't know much about the KHL. Maybe 2018-19 season was going to be the year the was given the shot at a prominent role?
I'm not even counting on him making the Leafs next yr. But if he does, could be a 15-30pt guy. Could jump up a ton depending how he gels with JT, Matthews, Nylander, Marner guys.
