Default Trade Andersen for pick and keep Talbot

    Here's my draft:
    • Round 1 : 0
    • Round 2 : 1
    • Round 3 : 0
    • Round 4 : 0
    • Round 5 : 2
    • Round 6 : 1
    • Round 7 : 3
    • Round 8 : 1

I'm thinking of trading Andersen for a 1st round and keep Talbot. Thoughts? Andersen is a safe bet with a strong team in front of him. Edmonton cannot be as bad as they were last year. Is the downgrade in wins too big between those 2? Should I holdon to Andy?

    Thx!

so this is a keep 12. are prospects included in the draft?

It really doesn't matter. Take one look at Dobber's goalie rankings for July - Andersen is ranked in tier 0 with Helle. Andersen could very well lead the NHL in wins this year. Talbot may not be the full time starter by Christmas - Koskinen is the real deal. This is an awful idea.

Keep Fred-Ex and see if you can get a 3rd for Talbot

I didn't see the gap between those two being that big. Thx for the advice!

it gets bigger if Talbot loses starts to Koskinen - That and Tor could push for the President's Trophy this year. Edm will be fighting for a wildcard spot (at best)

I think Talbot has a bounce-back season but in no way do I see him close to being as valuable as Fred A. Keep Freddy.
Points only keeper. 12 Teams. No pos requirements. 18 skaters / 3 goalies (2 count for points.) G/A = 1 point each (includes goalies) Goalies = 1.5 for W / 4.5 for SO. Minors - 4 year protection. Prospects added during their draft year only. Undrafted = waivers.

Please walk off that ledge. Andersen is a stud. He needs to be kept. I paid heavily to keep Talbot last year and he crushed me, nearly lost. Keep Andersen, don't look back on that. It is the right choice. While Edmonton and Talbot should bouce back after a poor year, Andersen is still far ahead of him. Plus think of the trade value should you really want to move him later on a pinch.

I don't see your scoring system, so I'm guessing it's wins only, since you mention nothing else. Therefore, you are looking at a mostly team dependent stat for scoring. Since you are in a salary cap keeper, where you keep 12 players, age, contract and injury proneness matter.

    This year:
    1. I like Toronto a lot more than Edmonton.
    2. Koskinen is way more of a threat to steal starts on the Oilers than anyone in the Leafs system.

    Future years:
    1. Andersen is younger, and hasn't had a season below average in the NHL. Talbot is older, and was bad last year.
    2. Andersen is signed for multiple years, and is the established starter.
    3. Talbot is on an expiring contract, which is almost as expensive as Andersen's. If Talbot plays well enough to merit a raise, he will get one. If he doesn't, he may not have a starting job in the NHL.

There's no way I even think about moving Andersen. Move Talbot for a late pick if you can.
