Hey guys, would really appreciate some help on this!
For team in sig, I've been offered Crawford and Lindholm for my Schenn and Lehner. I'm pretty loaded at LW and a little weak in goal so I'm seriously considering this offer.
However, I do have high hopes for Schenn this season so my question is he worth giving up for Crawford? And is Crawford that big of an upgrade over Lehner this season?
REP as usual, thanks guys!

My take is that Crawford is a considerable upgrade to Lehner. Crawford plays on a much stronger team (even if it is slightly declining) and is, at this point, a much better goalie. Lehner has potential but I think he will fall 8-10 wins short of Crawford this season and has a bit more of an injury risk. Unsure of your scoring but even in a vacuum Crawford is at least one maybe two tiers above Lehner IMO.
The amount of downgrade Lindholm (Elias) is from Schenn really depends on your scoring categories. Obviously in a league with hits and PP points his stock goes up. Both look to have wing/center eligibility in most leagues and will likely see some face off wins if that is a category. I like LIndholm to continue becoming a better player this year on a young and talented Carolina squad so I don't think the downgrade is that pronounced.
Overall, if you are already pretty strong on left wing, I think the upgrade of Crawford over Lehner is worth the loss of Schenn. Lindholm may even surprise this year and make it a wash.
Cheers!

I will pass I think Schenn will go north of 55 points w/ great periphs and Lehner in a contract year on an improved team with Eichel from the start.

What points did Crawford finish with last year vs. Lehner?
My hunch is in your league Schenn and Lindholm had greater disparity than Crawford and Lehner did. And that's before we are penciling Schenn in for an uptick in production.
Therefore I say no.

The difference between Crawford and Lehner last year was around 20 fantasy points in my league. So it seems most of you are a higher on Lehner this year if I understand this correctly?

I am high on Lehner (hell he is on my team) and he has been playing well in the pre-season, but he is still at least a tier below Crawford maybe two. Crawford is steady eddie. 55 to 60 starts and 32-35 wins like clockwork with decent numbers. Lehner? Injury prone. On a much weaker team. He has a strong back up behind him who could steal a large portion of starts if he falters. As well, I have read that some of the management in Buffalo are a bit down on Lehner. Could Lehner finish the season close to Crawford in fantasy points? Very unlikely but it is in the realm of possibility. I hope he does, as I own him, but Crawford is still the much better player to own going into this season.
As for Schenn? I think his moving to St Louis has given him more hype than is actually warranted. I love him as a solid contributor with hits and PP points but his PP points have been off the charts and a regression is definitely coming in that regard. As well, I think he was playing with more talent in Philly than he likely sees in St. Louis (doesn't look like he will spend much time with Tank). I think at most he will put up about the same but likely a little less fantasy points this season as compared to last.
Just my 2 cents for what it's worth

wonko makes great points but we all know Statsny will go down to injury and Schenn will find himself with Vlad. The PPP are definitely going to regress no question but the Blues far better at even strength than Philly who is reliant upon the man advantage for scoring.

Well my point was that I don't think Lehner is to Crawford what Lindholm is to Schenn
Crawford >> Lehner
Lindholm <<<<< Schenn
Therefore no deal

Lindholm had a superb second half and Schenn might not pan out as well as many say. But on the other hand, I see bad things for Crawford this season. He's not that great a goalie and the Blackhawks could be hurting without Hjarlmarsson. And as other have noted, Lehner is playing for a new deal. It's close enough that you probably should stand pat.
