I guess I am in the minority judging from the narrative on him lately, but I still think he can be a dominant player. I get less and less sure of that as time goes by but I truly wonder if he is just one trade away from getting out of the cess-pool that is Colorado and blowing up for 75 points somewhere. His speed is still ridiculous - he just has not been able to rise above his crappy situation.

To me, Duchene is overrated because of a couple of good seasons and the fact he was a high draft pick. I don't believe he makes his linemates better, so he would need to be traded to the right team to be successful.
Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.
12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.
League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.
Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.
We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.
Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid
I think Duchene does get traded.
I also think Sakic won't be the GM in place when the deal gets done for the Avs.
sakic probably using training camp as the next pressure point to squeeze XYZ from potential suiters who backed away after their trade talks went south at the draft.
What the hell is wrong with this team to name one of their worst defenceman as captain?

Let's all agree that - whether "right" or "wrong" - NHL captaincies sometimes have a lot to do with a lot of things beyond on-ice ability and leadership.

Duchene is a loser and that's why no teams want him. He's as selfish as they can come. If this link works properly, its Patrick Roy ripping into him for celebrating like he's never scored before, and they are losing 4-0. This is who he is, and you don't win with guys like him.
I'm a huge Avs fan, and would love to see him dealt for just about anything.
Lol.
Fitting handle.
Cant win with the guy that's won an Olympic gold medal, a World Cup gold, a World Juniors gold and 2 World Championship golds.
Patrick Roy was absolutely awful as a coach, and one of the most selfish and showboating players of his entire generation. I don't put much stock in his opinion of Duchene's character.
