post any stories about the home run derby here.
I heard (did not see) that Judge hit a home run off the roof in practice before the derby. wow

thanks for reminding me its on. want to see stanton and judge crank some home runs
watching 20 baseballs fly 450 ft is more exciting than watching a guy dunk a ball 10 different ways.... interesting.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
4 HRs over 500 feet including the longest in Statcast history at 513ft. He even hit the roof but I'm not sure if that one even counted. It's just not fair how he is able to crush a ball and make it look easy.
He is poised to win this for the next 10 years. Stanton has never done well in this ...I know he won last year but I believe he's disappointed on more than one occasion.
Stanton swing is long, can't sustain the same motion over and over. Judge just looks so free and easy.

Sanchez took him out 17-16 in the 1st round... I wouldn't call 16 a disappointment. Sometimes a player needs to figure out how to adjust to the Derby.
On a aside.. have to say the HR contest is the one AS game event I haven't tired of. NHL Skills, NBA Dunk contest are both rather boring now... 3-point contest I find more exciting than the dunk.
But all pale to a 500ft hr.
There's a different sound of contact when a ball hits a bat destined to send it 500ft. I was at the Skydome when Ramirez hit his 492ft moonshot to left. Other than Bonds batting practice I hadn't heard that sound repeated.

He's most certainly a freak in a good way. Good read from the NY times written a few years back. I'd say he was a late round steal. ARod says he's benching over 400 and squatting over 500. A 3 sport superstar in high school and seems to have chosen baseball for a player's longevity vs that of football. Sounds like he is well grounded which is nice to see.
