He's definitely putting some doubt in their minds playing the way he has.
I kinda always thought Murray was a bit overrated.
For an organization that has experienced stifled production from oft injured Malkin, Crosby as well as perennially injured Letang (and junior BAB Matta)...
What are the odds the Penguin brass realize Murray is a carbon copy of these BAB's and re think not protecting MAF?
Just a thought I had...

The Pens ' future in goal is spelled M-U-R-R-A-Y. They will work something out with Vegas to keep Murray and MAF.
Bottleneckers (12/16 in 2022)
16 team, points only. G: 2-W, 4-SO.
Top 9F, 4D & 1G . Keep 15, Max 23
F: J. Robertson, J. Hughes, Tavares, Lafreniere, Cozens, Newhook, Teravainen, Domi, R. Strome, Laine, Rossi, Raymond, Holtz, Perfetti
D: Bouchard, McAvoy, Morrissey, Heiskanen
G: Vasilevskiy
They'll work it out one way or the other. Murray isn't going anywhere. My guess is they will work a trade for Fleury to go where he wants to go even if it hurts them a bit.

Agree with ED... They can't lose him on the expansion draft but they will lose him. Let's not get carried away on MAF here though as it's a pretty small sample size and he wasn't great in the regular season. If anything I think it's a knock on Jarry as the pens will probably bring in a veteran back up like they have in some other years when there was doubt on their number 1

Murray is cheaper and younger. Debatable if he is as good, but the drop off isn't enough to outweigh the first two factors.
I dont think Id call the last two games as "a small sample size". I think MAF has shown more than enough over the years to know what he is and what he isn't.
The Pens wont expose Murray and they have to protect Fleury if he's still there so he will get traded or a side deal will be made with Vegas. They respect Fleury too much to let him ride the pine another season. He's on the move, you can bet the farm on it.

Agree that he is on the move Axe and agree you kind of know what you are getting but don't forget his stats this regular season isn't the Fleury that we all know and love but also can't be ignored (3.02 and .909 especially when Murray's are so much better behind the same team)

I don't see Murray going anywhere. Like others have said the Pens will work a deal with Vegas or trade Fleury to a location that he agrees with. There is no shortage of teams in need of a starting G - even an aging one. Although Murray is a BAB in training, he is younger and cheaper plus they have Jarry waiting in the wings.
30+ games is hardly being treated as a bonafide back up IMO especially when he had spells of keeping the net...
