Impressive game play at the World Junior Championship in Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec, caught the attention of all ISS Scouts, which led to the significant shuffle seen throughout January?s Release of the ISS Top 31. Many players, including Team Switzerland?s Nico Hischier (#3 Rank) rose up the January rankings after recent play at the World Junior Championship. Others have caught the eye of ISS Scouts during the course of regular season play including centerman, Casey Mittelstadt, of Eden Prairie who moved six positions to rank #6 this January, following a strong start in the season.
?Mittelstadt is logging a ton of minutes for Eden Prairie and centering their top line,? says ISS Hockey Director of Scouting Dennis MacInnis. ?He loves setting up his teammates, but he needs to adopt a more shoot-first mentality to gain even more interest.?

I still can't believe how Miro Heiskanen isn't on this list. I like him more than Juuso Valimaki who is #11 on the list. Maybe the ISS scouts didn't watch any Team Finland games because the team sucked but still...
Absolutely. There has been a lot of talk about the '17 draft class being weak but those top four sure make the draft look pretty good IMO. Maybe not as deep in talent but these guys look like future stars.

Good to see Hischier getting his deserved recognition. I remember I complained about his ranking last month, which was I believe outside the top 10 or maybe lower top 10? He's gonna make a run for the 1st OA.

I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
There's always a bit of confusion when trying to grade a draft between it being "weak" and "deep". The two always seem to get misunderstood.
It's rare that we hear about a draft being a strong draft. That being said, it's funny how 1st round picks are coveted in fantasy leagues even when people think the draft is weak.

i'd be shocked if come draft time, eeli tolvanen is not in the top four instead of vilardi. he's the best goal scorer in the draft, whoever picks third will have to decide between him and hischier.
Interesting to see that Cale Makar went from not in the top to being ranked 13th in a month. Who could have imagined that?!!!
^ You called it Chuck in regards to Makar; ever since that post of yours, he's been on my radar!

Will be interesting if a team 'gambles' on a player from a Junior A league with one of their high picks.
Not saying he isn't worth a top 15 spot but teams tend to stay clear of drafting players from lower leagues regardless of their success in the league.
Makar and where he gets drafted will be interesting to watch.
