Thanks for the info, P7, I had no idea about this.
Will players go home to be with family during this time do you think? Likely a team-dependent decision!
Really, each team will be "off" for 5 days of rest as part of NHL's new condensed schedule.
Thus - for GMs in H2H or if you are playing "catch up" or "slow down" in GP leagues - here's a guide to where NHL teams break.
5+ Day "No Game" Stretch, in chronological order:
NYI Jan 1-5
PIT Jan 1-7
OTT Jan 2-6
COL Jan 7-11
ARI Jan 8-12
NYR Jan 8-12
TOR Jan 8-12
...
PHI Jan 16-20
...
***Jan 27-Jan 30 All-Star Weekend***
...
FLA Feb 4-8
EDM Feb 6-10
NJ Feb 7-11
CGY Feb 8-12
LA Feb 10-15
CAR Feb 12-16
CHI Feb 12-17
TB Feb 12-17
WAS Feb 12-17
MON Feb 13-17
NAS Feb 13-17
BOS Feb 13-18
...
DAL Feb 19-23
BUF Feb 20-24
CBJ Feb 20-24
SJ Feb 20-24
VAN Feb 20-24
STL Feb 21-25
MIN Feb 22-26
WPG Feb 22-26
DET Feb 22-27
ANA Feb 26-Mar2
Notes:
1. There are two key periods where SEVERAL teams are off.
This is key because it makes simply rostering the standard amount of GP... more difficult.
Especially in H2H, you may want to size up your own team "weak periods" or where/if your opponents may have "weak periods" with players resting.
GMs would be wise to have have play to stream in players for two periods where several teams are off:
i) Feb 13-17, 6+ NHL teams are off in this range
ii) Feb 20-24, 5+ NHL teams are off in these days
2. The biggest gap of games is PIT with a full 7 straight days off. LA, BOS, DET have a 6 day-off period.
3. VERY light nights on the NHL Sched:
Wed, Feb 8: MIN, CHI
Fri, Feb 10: MIN, CHI, TB, WPG
Mon, Feb 13: ARI, CGY, CBJ, NYR
Mon, Feb 20: ANA, ARI, FLA, STL
Happy Scheduling!

It was too many dates for my feeble mind to comprehend so I ended up spreadsheeting my team (that sounded dirty).
