Stone and Hoffman, OTT Slumping

I took Stone and Hoffman this year. I figured I would get a solid 60 P floor from both of them and a chance that Hoffman got some better usage.

Right now it looks pretty bad. I know we have a new coach here but how long do I sit on these guys before I get worried?

My team is doing well, I am #2 now and I have several players doing really good. I also have several players who are not in form yet (Backstrom, Subban, Buff) I am ok waiting for these guys to take form as they are know players who have always performed. However, OTT looks bad and both these guys only have 2.5 years of performance to really go on. I am up in winger games played and have guys like Laine I took later performing well......ughhhhh still a bit worried

New system is crap for them. You should be worried. "sorry should say Coachs are crap"
Your not gonna get much value but they should both hit 50 this season.

Never put all the eggs in one basket (unless it's like Segs and Benn, Sid and Malkin etc)

It's just an offensive slump. The talk of "system" is overblown since they don't play a trap or anything like that. The team has simply focused on D to start since that is what they needed to work on most. The forwards like Stone and Hoffman are still getting their chances. Hoffman has over 50 shots. Stone sstarted the season with a concussion and is just looking fully in shape now. We know what they are capable of. Heck they even started the year scoring 19 goals in the first 6 games.

Last year, Stone had a two month stretch from Dec 1 - Jan 31 where he scored 12 points in 27 games. And he finished the year with 61 points. These slumps happen, it's just magnified when it happens at the start of the season. There's no doubt in my mind Stone finishes with 60 points.

Unless you get clear upgrades (based on previous seasons), then you hold onto them and reap the rewards when they go on hot streaks.

Too early to start stressing. Stone has two 60-point seasons, and both came on the strength of massive second halfs (halves?). Add in the concussion, and it's a recipe for a slow start

Glad to see these two performing! I do not get to watch much hockey and from the stat sheet it was looking pretty bad for the 1st quarter.

I'm glad too to see Stone picking it up lately. I almost dropped him to my bench a few weeks ago, which would have locked him in that position for a long time. Hope he keeps it up.

I know I'm coming in late, but one reason I kept a little bit of faith in Stone is because he wasn't the only one struggling. If an entire team is struggling, I tend to be more patient. However, if Hoffman, Turris, etc. had been tearing it up while Stone was doing nothing, I would have been more concerned.

Good approach, especially when you factor in a new coach. They started out playing like last year (lots of goals for and against), and you slowly saw Boucher's system creep in (not many goals either way). That's a big adjustment and no doubt a few of our guys are just figuring out how to get their offense going in the new system
